    Local anecdotal observation:

We went on official notice last Wednesday. That day, traffic seemed a little lighter than usual, maybe 25%. Friday afternoon, it seems like it was 50% heavier.

This morning, traffic does to appear to have decreased by 50%. Maybe things are starting to sink in with the dummies.

I wonder what would qualify as enough limitations to meet the "travel severely restricted" measure.

The Times? This comes from the Government's Preferred Website.

    https://covid19.healthdata.org/projections

What is your State and your Parent's State? What are the differences. I want to update this chart as much as possible to get it accurate in time for the 7 day deadline mentioned by the study.

Try this tact with your 21 year old kid: "You and your GF could go out now, risk getting severely ill or possibly dying. OR, you can sacrifice a year, maybe two at worst to live another 40-60 years." No one ever wants to be that frank with their kid, but the situation is that frank.

Good question. If a state "self quarantined" like Italy and didn't let anyone in or out of the borders? ...or.... If travel inside the state got restricted to "food and medicine only"? I'd say either or both of those would qualify.

We were "franker" than that with him. He went out Saturday for an hour without telling us. We told him next time he does that, he's locked out for the duration. Can't get harsher than that. We'll see - fingers crossed.

California Gov. Newson speaking now. (Mayor Bill DeBlasio's conference just ended.)

I like this Fox 10 Phoenix live channel. They continually skip from live press briefing to the next one throughout the day. Sometimes though, they may cut off one governor or mayor's briefing if a "more important" conference is happening at the same time (like a hot spot or a more populous state).

Press briefings have become my daily "background noise" instead of C-SPAN or radio.

Seems like a reasonable definition, although it might solely be limited to air traffic instead of all border sources - the picture does include a plane after all.

I think all the assumptions and definitions are on that 26-page document that the website posted. I've only read the first 7 pages so far (it's somewhat "dry" reading).

Are the people saying that the data isn't correct sure that the ordinances they are currently under issued by city or county? That would not show as a state restriction on the government tracker. I think only a "state-wide" ordinance issued by the governor "counts". Texas is a good example where most cities/counties ARE under "stay at home" even though the mandate did not come from the Governor's office....so Texas shows as not having a stay at home order.

Well, I did double check after @AKS mentioned and he is correct that New Mexico is under a statewide SAH order as of like 6 days ago, but that doesn't show on the website.

But your point could very easily explain some of the alleged discrepancies.

Ok, this is extremely reasonable. It lists all major hotspots as they are appearing.

Yes, he said his first priority is to keep Texans as safe as possible. He also reversed some cities ordinances which were letting violent criminals back out on the streets because they're more worried about the criminals getting sick than about the crimes people might commit on the rest of the population.

Texas and Arkansas. Statewide school closures, all non essential business shut down are a couple. I don't remember your list but thanks for updating your list.

Philadelphia(my home city) was undergoing a similar experience, where they are "ticketing" criminals and saying we'll pick you up later. ROFL. Yes, because they'll keep the ticket?

Seriously, it's insane. This whole thing is insane. I want the world prior to Coronavirus back. It wasn't perfect(or anything like that), but it made SENSE. It was normal.

This is why gun stores are an essential business.

Both of those dates seem wildly optimistic to me. With a 14 to 20 day lag time between infections and deaths, that would mean that the country is reaching, or has already passed, peak infections.

I don’t believe that will turn out to be the case.

Here the deaths so far today in the top countries (this is not pretty):

    2020-03-030 COVID-19 MOD daily deaths per country.png

Above is the list, sorted numerically by total cases.

Here the same list, sorted numerically by new deaths:

2020-03-030 COVID-19 MOD daily deaths per country 002.png

The numbers in Italy and Spain are only maginally better. Spain tends to revise it's numbers late in the evening. France's numbers got worse.

And in terms of total cases, notice that Turkey, which was under 300 cases just about two weeks ago, is now over 10,000 cases.

More later: 4 hours left in my day.

Both you and me, brother. Both you and me.
My best bro and I had a conversation last night. His kids are close in age to my kid.
He said to me, "when this is all over with, things will never be the same again"
