I'm pretty sure President Trump never said the virus was a hoax but that the Democrats criticism of his handling of the virus was a hoax. And that argument can be made much more effectively.

The democrats criticized when Trump imposed travel bans. Without those bans, there would be a lot more deaths. You can ignore that all you want, but Trump saved lives compared to what the democrats would have done.

Not a deflection, just the truth. The virus caught most people by surprise. Trump took action when the democrats would have just set on their butts.

And considering the constant mendacity and mischaracterizations by the press and by Democrats against the man, you can't blame Trump and Republicans in general for being cynical about the severity of this pandemic. Turns out what Trump said did not become a reality. What matters is that he was taking measures to curb the pandemic. And in my opinion, actions speak louder than words.

One of the measures that the Trump Administration took was the travel ban to and from China, from which this disease originated. And how did House Democrats respond? Last month they were trying to "rein in the executive branch’s authority to declare travel restrictions" (https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2020/mar/7/house-democrats-schedule-vote-on-bill-to-dismantle/). This was days before Trump set a travel ban on 26 European countries, and, at the time, the spread of the disease infected over 100,000 people internationally. This was also a month after he declared the travel ban against China. What would the number have been in America if we did not have those travel restrictions? I presume it would be much greater. I don't see you bringing up these facts about Democrats. It's because you, like them, are politicizing it.

Now, in post 91, you state that "150,000 cases . . . proves" that Democrats and their wholly owned subsidiary, the mainstream press, "weren't politicizing it." First off, the number of cases does not prove that they were not politicizing it. They were and continue to politicize it. They are politically weaponizing this virus in an attempt to undermine Trump, and it turns out that the American people don't like the politicization of death, which is why Trump's approval rating is up.

I would argue that is early on--at least relatively early on, since Democrats in early March were trying to take measures to prevent the president from taking such measures as the China travel ban. The running theme of your argument is that Trump did not take this threat seriously early on, yet you have said nothing, absolutely nothing, about Democrats trying to undermine the executive branch's ability to control the flow of travel through our borders less than a month ago! How is that nothing short of partisan politicization of the virus against Trump?

 

But Biden is your chosen one. The one who will lead this country through the next crisis. You gripe about Trump and then pick Biden. God help us.
