All the Republicans care about is cutting taxes on the rich and services for the non-rich. and they only need 51 votes to do it because of reconciliation. Quite the scam.

The laws to stop the fraud were already on the books. Bush didn't enforce them.

So the US is approaching levels of extreme wealth inequality last seen since before the GD.

That's why Bernie Sanders has been able to raise more campaign funds than anyone else; though people living in gated communities understand nothing of this.

"Capitalism contains the seeds of its own destruction".

Meanwhile, I hope you are OK with Trump piling up $trillions upon $trillions of government debt, to ensure unemployed workers can pay rent and buy food during this pandemic.

I have a better scheme: same recue package at NO cost to the taxpayer.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jekyll_Island_Club

Jekyll Island was the location of a meeting in November 1910 in which draft legislation was written to create a central banking system for the United States. Following the Panic of 1907, banking reform became a major issue in the United States. Senator Nelson Aldrich (R-RI), chairman of the National Monetary Commission, went to Europe for almost two years to study that continent's banking systems. Upon his return, he brought together many of the country's leading financiers to Jekyll Island to discuss monetary policy and the banking system, drafting legislation which was introduced in Congress as the "Aldrich Plan". Some ideas from the Aldrich Plan were later incorporated into the Federal Reserve Act.

On the evening of November 22, 1910, Sen. Aldrich and A.P. Andrews (Assistant Secretary of the United States Treasury Department), Paul Warburg (a naturalized German representing Kuhn, Loeb & Co.), Frank A. Vanderlip (president of the National City Bank of New York), Henry P. Davison (senior partner of J. P. Morgan Company), Charles D. Norton (president of the Morgan-dominated First National Bank of New York), and Benjamin Strong (representing J. P. Morgan), together representing about one fourth the world's wealth at the time*, left Hoboken, New Jersey on a train in complete secrecy, dropping their last names in favor of first names, or code names, so no one would discover who they all were. The excuse for such powerful representatives and wealth was to go on a duck hunting trip on Jekyll Island.

Senator Aldrich presented a Bill to Congress in 1913, a bill largely based on his ideas (along with those worked out by the Jeckyll Island club of 6).

*any chance a degree of self-interest might be evident in the design of the proposed Federal Reserve Act......

Capitalism has brought more people out of poverty than any other system. Inequality is a meaningless metric.

Not according to hell or Langley, lol...

J.P. Morgan turned into Shirley Temple, and James Warburg turned into Mary Poppins. ;)

Including in China...…..where the government has the ultimate say. .

Not so. It will be soon be so extreme that a Bernie Sanders WILL be elected.

Meanwhile, are you happy with Trump piling $trillions upon $trillions of government debt, to ensure unemployed workers can buy food and pay rent?

China has one billion people living on $2000 per year.

I’m happy that government is replacing lost wages imposed by the economic shutdown.

because the green card business is subsidised by the state, for ideological reasons, in order to keep up the aura of 'immigrants paradise'..

Ok, old chap, but speaking of inequality: don't you have any national pride at all?

Seen on TV tonight: in the 'wealthiest' nation on earth, health workers demonstrating outside hospitals, protesting about the lack of life-saving ppe...and meanwhile, a RUSSIAN plane unloading emergency equipment in the US, a gift from Putin to the US......

    The world is watching....

[But she forgot to add: " with capitalism you eventually run out of people with money...]

But I'm pleased to report: Boris Johnson has finally exposed Maggie's hoary old dictum, namely "there is no such thing as society", by contradicting it utterly and completely, in his pleas to the nation from his bunker.

    https://www.theguardian.com/politic...rvice-johnson-says-from-coronavirus-isolation

"Boris Johnson has stressed that “there really is such a thing as society” in a message released he is while self-isolating with Covid-19, in which he also revealed that 20,000 former NHS staff have returned to help battle the virus.

The prime minister chose to contradict his Conservative predecessor Margaret Thatcher’s endorsement of pure individualism made in 1987, when the then PM told a magazine: “There is no such thing as society.”

In his video message, Johnson said: “We are going to do it, we are going to do it together. One thing I think the coronavirus crisis has already proved is that there really is such a thing as society.”

Except no other country in the world truly has one and the ones that have tried are notable for essentially permanent unemployment levels among the you they hang around 10%. Remember the riots in France when they talked about reducing the work week? That was because people understood that the real result would be a significant drop in their wages.

As I said and your article notes states were required to not only to expand but to pick up more funding and of course be subject to the whim of the Congress for more.

As Federal Medicaid Money Fades, How Are States Funding Expansion?
Many are tapping into tax revenues, making hospitals help, or adding work requirements and premiums to account for their increasing share of the expansion bill. In some, the debate is so heated that it's ended up in court
