"A Darwinian approach to federalism’: States confront new reality under Trump"

"The Trump White House is doubling down on a strategy to govern the coronavirus pandemic: pushing authority and responsibility for the response onto the states."

"But governors have complained openly that they’re stuck competing against each other, with many preferring a more coordinated national response. Former leaders who have sat in their seats say governors need to hear directions clearly outlined from the federal government to local officials."

"But it has a political subtext: The approach could give the White House an opportunity to extract Trump from future criticism as the virus spreads throughout the nation and threatens to kill hundreds of thousands of Americans.

"The president’s advisers are keeping an eye on how policy will be seen through a campaign lens as they try to best position the president to secure another term seven months from now."

"Desperate lawmakers hunt for medical supplies as Trump takes hands-off approach"
    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/0...workers-157883

"Pence task force freezes coronavirus aid amid backlash"
"The heightened scrutiny comes as American health care workers complain of severe shortages of masks, goggles and gloves amid a nationwide spike in coronavirus cases, and as Democrats rip the administration for shipping aid to other countries while vastly underestimating America’s own needs."
    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/0...workers-157883

The one line says it all; "The approach could give the White House an opportunity to extract Trump from future criticism as the virus spreads throughout the nation." Meaning, he'll always have the Governors to blame, which he has already begun, going to be tough though given that the COVID-19 doesn't know geographical nor political boundary

Now correct me if I am wrong, but when a country is at war, as Trump has said we are, that he is a "war general," isn't it the job of the leader of that country to make sure that those on the front lines have the necessary tools to fight that war to the best of their ability?

Trump is quickly becoming a mass manslaughter murderer.

15 to 0 is now over 4,000 dead and climbing. God help us all.

So your side calls him a liar, but are victims because you were waiting for him to tell you what to do to avoid a virus?

The governors would be competing against themselves in any case. The competition would play out before Trump rather than before CEOs.

They’re politically wrong, the lack of a Federal response will get a lot of attention. Even if the administration consistently moves the goal posts.

The reality here is they don’t have the talent, the management skills, in place to handle the crisis. It’s quite the team, sycophantic amateurs and a bull **** artist. We don’t and won’t get much from them.

    The profiteering is disgusting.

Presidents during wartime hand over the decisions to their actual generals, they don't direct operations themselves you know.

Hitler tried that and look what it got him.

You also have to realize that there isn't a one way approach that will work for every state. Some states require different approaches to the issue.

In addition to that, if Trump did take direct control then you would simply whine that he wasn't letting governors do their job.

No matter what he does you will whine about it.

    Exactly.

Trump dropped the ball and the Death Toll is probably going to be an Extra 200k because of Trump downplaying the Virus (and calling it a Hoax).

    Thanks alot, Trump!:smh:

In other words, they want someone else to do it.

Push the responsibility onto someone else.

    Lol ironic

“I know more about ISIS than the generals do, believe me,” he bragged in November 2015. “They don’t know much because they’re not winning,” he reiterated in June 2016.

Everybody KNOWS that Trump called the Virus a "Hoax".

    ^That is Undeniable.

BUT, even if someone were to humor the Utterly FAILED Pro-Trump "parsing words" narrative:

The Word "Hoax" should have never been used in ANY Context in proximity to a discussion of this Killer Virus.

^In other words: Why is Trump so STUPID as to even leave that door open?

The Only Conclusion is Obvious: Trump is a Complete IMBECILE.

    Period. :smh:

Facts Matter and the facts that matter about the criminal IMPOTUS's abject FAILURE to protect We the People, or even take any RESPONSIBILITY for his failure, means that he WILL be held ACCOUNTABLE come November.

If the Cretin-in-Chief wants to PRETEND to be a "war" leader then it is INCUMBENT upon him to ENSURE that the Nation as a whole is fully prepared, equipped and trained to defeat the "enemy" that he disingenuously IGNORED for a FATAL six week period.

During the Civil War Lincoln did NOT leave it up to each individual state to defend themselves against the Southern Aggressors. Instead Lincoln took advantage of the UNITED States to defend their territories in accordance and compliance with the Constitution and his Oath of Office.

The criminal IMPOTUS has FAILED in his DUTY to DEFEND our nation and is therefore UNFIT to hold office.

Perhaps he might even be tried as a "war criminal" afterwards for all of the unnecessary deaths that his DERELICTION of duty is causing.

The is no doubt whatsoever that he does demonstrate a Depraved Indifference to Human Life.

    Sad!

By downplaying this early on, he has done more than anyone on earth to facilitate the spread of the virus in America.

He has the blood of thousands of Americans on his hands.

These are some incredibly sick and disgusting posts. While Trump was setting travel bans, Democrats were trying to Impeach him off a phone call where nothing happened. He has likely saved more lives that we will ever know with that act and shutting down Europe quickly. For those actions, we have Leftist dimwits calling him a xenophobe. Seriously, there is no action he can take, where we won't see pathetic posts like these criticizing him to the most outrageous degrees.

But he did downplay the seriousness of it early on. He compared it to the flu, while deaths in Italy were increasing exponentially. He said it would disappear in April. He said it would go from 15 cases to 0 very quickly.
    That is undeniable.

Trump didn't do "travel bans" to stop the virus.

Trump banned to stop Chinese citizens to come to the USA.

Anyone else could go back and forth and transmit from China to the USA all they wanted.

All it takes is one perfectly healthy-looking sick person and the whole thing was a failure.

He "shut down" Europe AFTER it went to hell and had plenty of travel of sick people flew to tge USA.

Trump IS a xenophobe, he ignores the best minds in country to listen to whackjobs, Fox News, and, worst of all, himself. Malaria drugs to save the country with NO basis (that had failed in previous tests with SARS) is what he has?

    That is what is pathetic!

But good leaders also take full responsibility for the authority they delegate. Unlike Dirty Donny, who doesn't take responsibility for anything.
