This has nothing to do with God or science, just normal, flawed human beings.

God wouldn't punish the faithful, would he? And if He did, it would be because they were lax in their faith, right? Just what is it that this pastor is counting on to protect him and his sheep from being virally infected? It certainly isn't science.

Wonder if the Christian Right views this as just punishment given to mankind for tolerating the sins of the secular heathens. You know, the gays, the atheists, the Progressives, the Libertarians, the Humanists, the Man-Worshippers, the Objectivists, the capitalists, the evolutionists, the scientists and their GMO's and CRISPRs, the embryonic researchers; in other words, the Human Mind.

If there is a God, and he created this virus, He sure is pissed. Maybe we all ought to prostrate ourselves and beg for forgiveness--though it certainly didn't help Iran.

Well for myself I do not care for becoming a police state with the excuse of public health or for any other excuse for that matter.

Nothing to do about god or religion just a government officer miss using his powers to play god until the courts can end stop the matter.

Note the worst thing you could do is to increase the jails populations instead of decreasing it as far as public health is concern.

Fact: Large gatherings are this virus's "All You Can Eat Buffet". Fact: Neither prayers nor wishes will make it go away. But science will defeat it. Now, how is this Pastor going to beat this virus? With Holy Water? Please. Let's be real.

Sorry but we should never never give such power over adults repeat adults with special note concerning religion matters.

Next as far as public health is concern jails full of people is the worst possible way of addressing it.

It does not help to be the nation with the greatest percent of it population behind bars as far as public health is concern. Just hear that we have people behind bars for having open containers an similar so call crimes!!!!!!!

It seems to me Starjet isn't commenting on any legal powers, he's commenting on the pastor having made a poor choice to begin with.

Phony narrative, that only reveals religious bigotry.

Atheism is science! Theism is religion!

Humans have agendas.. religious, political, financial, etc. Exposing a human with an agenda hardly invalidates their ideology. The religious agenda of Progressivism is just a competing worldview, for the Souls of mankind.

someone could (and there are often loons that do) reason that the planet would be better off without humans destroying it. Thankfully they do not have the power to do anything about it

Reason creates wars, never seen a prayer create a war yet.

    your 'reason'ing is severely flawed

Too damn bad we can not have the one police chief and any other idiots who arrested religion leaders for daring to have religion meetings against their orders jail them self for doing so.

By the way I am an atheist but I just happen to support the constitution an limits on government power abuses.

yeh, and the fist thing people do is research the character of the people responsible and that breeds none other than:

The people of germany were so pissed off, well europe generally, that they voted in someone who could do something about it. In fact he was so popular that 1/3 of the chez voted for him and demanded annexation.

    Power, greed, and stupidity.....

Never knew that religion leaders had a duty to fight germs instead of the teaching of their own brand of religion nonsense.

If adults wish to have religion meetings giving the state the power to block those meetings if you can label it a matter of public health is not wise.

Hell being an atheist myself I could see banning such meetings as a matter of public mental health for example.

Let's ask Jim Jones and Tony Alamo what they think. I'm sure they think they own the universe (not sure if they'd dived it between them) and that they are the ones who know everything by the grace of divine flash-inspiration. If they "think it" then it must come directly from God's own mouth. Religion ought to be eradicated except that as long as humanity is left without answers to the meaning of life then there will be prophets .... some of them will destroy. everything around them for the sake of their own lust & greed.

If science is the understanding of the universe, God has it, so there's no conflict. If, OTOH, science is the consensus of all professing scientists, they don't know a trillionth of a percent of anything, so guess Who wins.

I'm sure you would be a greatest atheist religious leader this planet ever had! Maybe even better than Stalin?

    Religion in the Soviet Union

Thus the USSR became the first state to have as one objective of its official ideology the elimination of existing religion, and the prevention of future implanting of religious belief, with the goal of establishing state atheism (gosateizm).[2][3][4][5] Under the doctrine of state atheism in the Soviet Union, there was a "government-sponsored program of conversion to atheism" conducted by Communists.[6][7][8] The Communist regime targeted religions based on State interests, and while most organized religions were never outlawed, religious property was confiscated, believers were harassed, and religion was ridiculed while atheism was propagated in schools.[2] In 1925 the government founded the League of Militant Atheists to intensify the persecution.[9] Accordingly, personal expressions of religious faith were not in any way privately banned, but a strong sense of social stigma was imposed on them by the official government structures and secular mass media and it was generally considered unacceptable for members of certain government professions (teachers, state bureaucrats, soldiers) to be openly religious and anti-secular.

The vast majority of people in the Russian empire were, at the time of the revolution, religious believers, whereas the communists aimed to break the power of all religious institutions and eventually replace religious belief with atheism. "Science" was counterposed to "religious superstition" in the media and in academic writing. The main religions of pre-revolutionary Russia persisted throughout the entire Soviet period, but they were only tolerated within certain limits. Generally, this meant that believers were free to worship in private and in their respective religious buildings (churches, mosques, synagogues etc.), but public displays of religion outside of such designations were prohibited. In addition, religious institutions were not allowed to express their views in any type of mass media, and many religious buildings were demolished or used for other purposes. In the long run atheism failed to win many souls. Religion strengthened underground and was revived to help fight the Second World War. It flourished after the fall of Communism. As Paul Froese explains:

Atheists waged a 70-year war on religious belief in the Soviet Union. The Communist Party destroyed churches, mosques, and temples; it executed religious leaders; it flooded the schools and media with anti-religious propaganda; and it introduced a belief system called “scientific atheism,” complete with atheist rituals, proselytizers, and a promise of worldly salvation. But in the end, a majority of older Soviet citizens retained their religious beliefs and a crop of citizens too young to have experienced pre-Soviet times acquired religious beliefs.[10]

I will share a little secret with you, all you would to do is swap the present day dogma for yours, enforce it as law till they become believers in your religion, just like the zionists did with germany.

    Won't Get Fooled Again!

    Sing along, enjoy! :alientwo:
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
    Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
    We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
    We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
    And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the last war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
    Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
    We don't get fooled again
    No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Oh I know that the hypnotized never lie
    Do ya?

    There's nothing in the streets
    Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by the bye
And a parting on the left
Is now a parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
    Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
    We don't get fooled again
    Don't get fooled again
    No, no!

    Meet the new boss
    Same as the old boss

    SAYS IT ALL!

How does this Pastor’a actions make any of that better? More likely he’ll succeed in making it all worse, the government’s gun as well as the nation’s health.

In defense of the principle of Individual Rights, a proper government has the legal and moral right to order a lock down. So the question becomes twofold: Is this government proper, and does this pandemic justify a lock down of each of us?

I’ve concluded the answer to both is no, but the government has the bigger gun and the virus is a mean SOB. I act accordingly. The Pastor would be wise to follow my lead.

The state governments had already back away from the ban on religion meetings so they do not have a bigger gun then the religion communities it would seems.

Sorry but to me it is far worst to allow the government to tear up the constitution for any reason they can label public health then the added risk of the virus doing more harm due to those meetings.

They’ll change their minds when half the congregation is on ventilators.

I agree that the authoritarians are gorging themselves, just don’t see how purposely self-inflicting accomplishes anything other than more sick people.

You do know that roughly 80 percents of those who become inflected hardly know they have it or do not in fact know that they have the virus????

My Church and the vast majorities I know have, have shut down. They have found creative ways to serve the community and at the same time holding service through internet. We do pray that the suffering will ease and that we find purpose in what has happened. I don't think your rants against God and those that seek after Him add anything positive to your position.

Don't think Starjet wants to hear that. He likes the fear aspect of the whole thing, hoping to shake peoples faith in God or their President. He might have a sense of joy for another month or two.....but when we overcome this thing and things rebound it will be leftist misery all over again!
