and when roving bands of hungry bandits are terrorizing the suburbs and countryside looking for food ? When tens of millions are out of work, feeling lost without hope ?
When total monetary collapse ushers in a world of capital controls, cashless society, negative interest rates on savings, and a supranational monetary control ?
When your 401K gets taxed to feed a hungry government ? When fuel is scarce and you are limited on electricity, gas and water use ? When Blue hats patrol our streets? what then ?
what kind of **** society do you want ? And please don't tell me crap about fighting off the hungry masses like some kind of Mad Max hero, and living on your provisions that you socked away. If we get to that point, all is lost.

Our country was built by people who looked death in the face and said **** you, bring it on.
Now we're gonna turn our future over to useless bureaucrats, swinging their hands blindly in the air, because we're scared.

And if you really think 30-50% of the population is gonna get infected, with a 1-2% death rate, there ain't nothing we're doing that's gonna stop it anyway.
Or do you think we can have millions of workers, working in all the "essential" services, creating and delivering all of the goods and services we need to live, and still stop the spread ?
    That's laughable.
100% complete and total isolation or nothing.

You are unquestionably a drama queen. Re-read the drivel I was responding to. Full of imagined doom and gloom.
I'm not sniveling nor afraid. I'm simply doing my part to limit the spread of a very infectious novel virus. It's what the adults are doing. You should grow up.

We do not need to build emergency new hospitals every day. We do not have health professionals needing counselling as they are finding it difficult to cope with the numbers of deaths every day. 20% need hospital help and 5% of them die. This virus goes crazy on people's lungs so it is believed that many of those who are infected will be scarred for life.

If this is the study where the person believed it had been in the UK since January and 50% of the people had already had it it is being questioned. At best it is a guess. Now look at the other side. Yesterday I read of a boy of 14 and one of 17 or 19 dying in the US because they had covid-19 and no health insurance and so were denied treatment - that disgusts me. I am bored already with the lockdown but I know we would not be being doing it if the Government did not believe it was an absolute necessity. They were prepared to sacrifice the old with poor immune systems but something made them change their minds - I think it was something to do with how many deaths the general public of the UK would accept.

We are changing. Interesting times. I don't think it is that bad a deal if industry, planes and so on are quiet for a little while. We need that anyway due to Global warming. There could be a good spin off on this in that people get used to doing all kinds of things in ways which are better for the environment.

The UK has come out with massive support for people who cannot work and are not getting paid. They are paying 80% of usual salary up to £2,500 per month. That is what Governments also need to do to avoid social conflict rising - like seems to be happening in South Italy. You cannot leave people hungry and not expect some pay back.

    Ok, answer these simple questions.

Do you disagree with 30-50% infection rate and 1-2% death rate?

Do you think that millions of essential workers interacting with millions of others, and going home to their families every night is "what adults are doing" to stop the spread?

Do you want these essential service people risking their lives so you can have essential services? Will this help stop the spread?

Will you go spread your Carona virus to others, should you get sick and need care?

Should you? Or should you be an "adult" and keep it to yourself, while healthcare workers stay home like "adults" and keep the virus from spreading?

What is it that these "adults" are doing that makes you feel we are stopping anything?

People limiting contact with other people will slow the spread. Even a trump fan should be able to follow the logic.

So you answered none of the questions, but did manage to say "Trump."

That's a start if intelligent conversation.

Can you quantify "slow" when millions of people are still interacting daily to bring you "essential" services you desire?

    Who doesn't?

Your emotion-based response does not address that the planet is over-populated, which I cannot prove. I can only speculate, judging from the big picture.

This whole thing is one giant mess. I want people to be healthy, and I'd like to take reasonable accommodations to assure health. But it's also clear as Americans that we are giving up our civil and human rights in a massive way.

So invest more resources into healthcare. It will address the problem without requiring the destruction of our society.

    Prove WHAT?

ONLY 100k Dead would be a Miracle.

And, without every state not following guidelines (and the FL Gov. Allowing Religious Gatherings) the USA will be lucky to stay under 300k Deaths.

Do you actually need someone to PROVE to you what will happen if they toss a lit match into a poll of gasoline?

Once again, getting away with ONLY 100k Virus Deaths in the USA would be a Miracle.:flagus:

You are referring to an issue that's existed for 30+ years. Why does that problem exist?

Can you find evidence that Italy's death rates are higher than any other year?
