Not surprising this is happening. Can you help out? Will the result be food riots:

All those who were against guns may suddenly rethink their stand on that and need a good hunting rifle soon. A 22lr and 243 is a good place to start.

This is what happens when people refuse to buckle down and put at least 6 months salary in the bank.

Lol . How does a low wage service sector worker do this? Or a gig worker?

A huge number of worketsworkers dont have a surplus once they pay their bills and buy food.

Why dont you know this ? Sounds like when the French didnt have bread and one of their rich elites said ..well let them eat cake!

She ended up losing her head...literally!

Would "paying their bills" include the vital necessities of dope, cigarettes, $1k cell phones, earbuds, bluetooths (whatever the hell that is), $100 per month cell phone bills, beer, liquor, a huge mortgage on a house they couldn't afford, the payment on an expensive car they couldn't afford, jewelry, tattoos, Netflix, hulu, I-pads, rental of a luxury apartment they couldn't afford, eating at restaurants instead of beans and taters at home?

No, imagine someone who finished school a year ago and has entered the workforce recently. They take on rent on an apartment, buy a used car to get back and forth. There are basics like utilities, groceries, health insurance premiums, car insurance, etc. Being fresh out of school, you don't always start out raking in much of an income so imagine this happens a year later. Of course that person isn't going to have 6 months of bills saved.

I'm imagining my own son in this situation, luckily he is still employed and working from home. He is not extravagant by any means, lives in a modest apartment and drives a used truck. He does have money saved, probably for a couple months, but that's it. I"ve always lectured my son about keeping money saved and not living paycheck to paycheck, but it does take time to build up that savings.

Don't forget 4th of July and Fireworks, I've seen people spend Money of Fireworks, before paying Bills or putting food on the table. It's times like now that Dumb people are going to learn a lesson in budgeting. If times get rough, I have enough Top Ramen for emergency to last me a Year, not the healthiest stuff in the World, but I Love it.

And you are doing a wonderful job with your son. On the other hand, I personally know many who have been working for 10 plus years and make darn good paychecks with darn good benefits, and they are still living check to check, precisely because they have no economic vision and live for the moment, instead of for the future. I wonder which are in the majority - those like your son, or those like the ones I mentioned?

    *America* - Has obesity problem

*Coronavirus* - Hold my Dos Equis

Jokes aside, it's pretty crazy that obesity is one of the factors which puts you at a greater risk of death or becoming seriously ill if contracting corona, and some people may suffer malnourishment or worse as a result of an inability to aquire food due to coronavirus.

We are going to be faced with much higher prices for fresh fruit and vegetables as we are not allowing Mexican migrant farm laborers who usually harvest our crops to enter the country. We usually allow about 250,000 to enter the country legally for harvesting each year. I head the other day that Florida's watermelon crop is ready for harvest but they have no workers to pick them.

Even as a married private I managed to live with in my means. Not that difficult. Living large was a 12 of cheap beer on m.j the weekend bought with change between me and the guy down stairs. I know how to live cheap and with in my means. I have bought Turkey burger and shopped with a calculator. And yes I do not have to worry about this any more but I payed my dues and made the right choices. And I know that living within your means is doable but not fun. So save your it is tough out there cry stories.

I am worried about this, the poor can not afford to ride this out

the middle class will become poor if this lasts too long

the rich will be fine economically

do you really think the poor are buying $1000 cell phones? they get hand me downs maybe from friends or family, but they can't afford them

"a huge mortgage on a house they couldn't afford"

without working and getting a pay check, people can't afford their mortgage anymore, imagine that

the reality is, many Americans live paycheck to paycheck... and the right is against raising the min wage to a living wage

Not everyone is a low wage service sector worker. I know a lot of people that make good money and don't have a penny in savings.

We should go drive around the housing projects - you would be surprised at what the "poor" can afford.

    How so?

Oh! In your mind, beer, dope, cigarettes, Netflix, $1k phones, tattoos, and eating at restaurants are all a minority problem? I don't think so.

Your assumption of what minorities spend their money on is appalling. Your projection of your inner feelings upon me is also appalling.

So... it turns out that it is YOUR racism that is showing. Why would you think that only minorities have issues with the things I mentioned?

A global pandemic is happening under Trump's watch, do you blame Trump for a global pandemic?

Isn't it funny how the ones who are crying racism are the ones who seem to have the racist thoughts.

sure seems to me like you're rendering judgment. Whether it's racist or not is based on context. So who are you judging?

you mistake what people have, for what they bought, many have hand me downs from friends or families, they do not actually spend months of pay on a phone

to think, every time we give our hand-me-downs away, someone is there to attack them for having it

think back to when you lived like that though, how long could you go with no money, a week, a month, 2 months, longer....

this is the problem, you and I can weather this storm fine, but there was a time in my life I would not of been able too as well

rent costs are so much higher than when I was young, I do not know how the younger generation does it

I blame Trump for his low level of preparedness and lack of seriousness in the first weeks of this pandemic.

The results speak for themselves today.

This set of factors could indeed lead to a certain level of social chaos.

People are realizing this, which is why they are rushing to the stores to arm themselves.
