IT is called governing. Not many are cut out for it. And, sometimes you have to do things you may not even like, or believe in. Trump likes insulting, and stirring up SH^t. That is the limit of his skills. NOONE believes his claims.

    Journalists???

A small trial finds that hydroxychloroquine is not effective for treating coronavirus

I am a medicinal chemist who has specialized in discovery and development of antiviral drugs for the past 30 years, and I have been actively working on coronaviruses for the past seven. I am among a number of researchers who are concerned that this drug has been given too much of a high priority before there is enough evidence to show it is indeed effective.

There are already other clinical studies that showed it is not effective against COVID-19 as well as several other viruses. And, more importantly, it can have dangerous side effects, as well as giving people false hope. The latter has led to widespread shortages of hydroxychloroquine for patients who need it to treat malaria, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, the indications for which it was originally approved.

What your statement proposes is that if you were in his shoes you would not have said anything about promising medications because people are too stupid to use that information responsibly. It's a fatalistic view that does not demonstrate leadership. It demonstrates dictatorship. A dictator isn't a leader. A dictator is a tyrant that controls people to do his own bidding.

Maybe you want to be governed by someone that thinks you are too stupid to make good decisions based on available knowledge.

Not I. I believe a leader is someone who shows people a pathway forward. A good leader convinces people to take that pathway forward on their own. That strategy requires setting objectives, and providing all available knowledge to help achieve those objectives. It's not the leader's job to carry you there. You have to walk there on your own two feet.

Do we have any data from the large-scale clinical trial looking at hydroxychloroquine as a possible treatment for the coronavirus after the Food and Drug Administration fast-tracked the approval process that began last week?

    Exactly.

Everybody KNOWS that things like it "treating COVID-19" is strictly "anecdotal" and it is NOT ready to be used as a massive remedy.

    ^Everbody KNOWS That.

But, an IMBECILE (like Trump) is promoting QUACKERY.

The real damage was done by the Gov. Whitmer (D) who let people die simply to get some cheap political points against the President. It shameful. Thankfully, she has reversed course...but its' to late for some

    https://www.metrotimes.com/news-hit...g-feds-for-hydroxychloroquine-and-chloroquine

"Gov. Gretchen Whitmer drew fire from some on the right after the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) sent a letter last week threatening "administrative action" against doctors who prescribed two experimental drugs that could potentially help coronavirus patients.

The Whitmer administration has since removed the language threatening doctors from the letter and is now asking the federal government to send shipments of the drugs"

I work in the medical arena. I recently sat in on a nationwide internet conference amongst doctors belonging to a particular trade group that I will opt to not identify. The speaker was the Chief of Staff at a New York City hospital. Their protocol for every hospitalized patient is currently Hyrodychloroquine, Azithromycin, Zinc, and massive doses of intravenous vitamin C. I believe that she said this is the protocol at all New York Hospitals.

None of this decision has ANYTHING to do with anything that Trump has said. It is a medical decision currently in widespread use around the globe, and it most certainly is NOT a crackpot idea. Unless and until something better comes along, it is currently the best and most promising option that medicine has to offer. If your loved one were in a hospital literally fighting for their life, you TOO would want them to try that drug combination, and if you think otherwise, you are fooling yourself.

You and others need to step back from your Trump hatred for one second and take an objective look at reality. Trump having mentioned this drug has literally NOTHING to do with the medical establishment's current use of that drug combination. Maybe it will turn out that it works wonders, and maybe it will not. The reality is however that it is currently the most promising treatment with widespread availability. None of its use or lack thereof is relevant to Trump one way or the other. This is solely the domain of doctors and their decision making protocol.

GMA grudgingly admitted it this morning, then stated that the world may not have enough supply.

True, with the new demand for many things due the brand new Wuhan virus, a whole lot of things are going to be in short supply, possibly for a year or more. This is biblical in amplitude.

You’re not desperately grasping at all. I remember that one time a guy gave me a million dollars, and I complain about the fashion in which he gave it to me.

Exactly, so the ignorant fool pretending to know everything in every single field on the planet should close his face hole and allow the experts to do the talking.

I have heard Trumps remarks on the topic. At no point did he imply that he is a medical expert. He is clearly conveying information that he has been privvied to while trying to create some positive feeling of hope among the populace, and he is also clearly trying to do what little he has at his disposal to calm the markets in the process.

How you and other leftists are rationalizing that as an evil or even misguided goal is beyond any level of rationality. The ONLY logical explanation for such a reaction is TDS. You seem to have an acute case.

Please note it appears that In order to be effective it is used with another drug and zinc. Not by itself.

I guess if you live in a dystopian world yours might be a really fitting post. The rest of us will treat any news concerning possible mitigation of the Wuhan virus as somewhat positive news.

In a country with public education who could have imagined that anyone would start drinking fish tank supplies rather than consulting a physician or even a naturopath, a chiropractor, or a nurse? Even almost all friends with no experience in the health care field would have said no, stop, do not do that.

    The article claims:

The study comes on the heels of two others - one in France and one in China - that reported some benefits in the combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin for COVID-19 patients who didn’t have severe symptoms of the virus.

    and

The idea that the combination of hydroxychloroquine with an antibiotic drug, azithromycin, was effective against COVID-19 gained more attention after a study published on March 17. This study described a trial of 80 patients carried out by Philippe Gautret in Marseille, France. Although some of their results appeared to be encouraging, it should also be noted that most of their patients only had mild symptoms. Furthermore, 85% of the patients didn’t even have a fever – one of the major telltale symptoms of the virus, thus suggesting that these patients likely would have naturally cleared the virus without any intervention.

So it was tested in combination with another agent and not by itself. I am not qualified to comment other than that, the same is true for Trump for the same reason and even more so in his case because millions listen to him.
