Democrats assume that the virus and its effects are going to hurt trump. They seem almost gleeful that this will make trump lose.

Democrats thinking this makes me think the opposite will happen.

You mean because the average citizen is just so stupid as to blame Trump for the CoronaVirus?

The average American does not blame Trump for the virus.
They do, however, hold Trump accountable for the RESPONSE to the virus.
It sort of comes with the office.

Yes they do, and 6 out of 10 Americans approve, probably more. What does it tell you?

That you need to recheck your polls. That number has changed.

Could this not then tee him up (if he gets re elected and the economy naturally reverses course) for the biggest job gains in history?

Given time either Trump or a newly elected President can repair some/most of the damage. Do you remember what Bush did to the economy?

"When Obama took office he inherited an economy that was in the teeth of the Great Recession. In 2009 personal consumption dropped 2.5% year over year and business investment fell off a cliff, down 21.2%. Both segments recovered and started the current 10-year plus economic expansion."

Trump has always been a cut-and-run guy. As soon as anything goes South (marriages, casinos, university, etc.) he
drops it like a hot rock. He's not someone who fixes things. He has the wrong management style for that. Time for Romney on this one.

    That's true: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...avirus-approved-by-60-in-gallup-poll-k86e29ot

Some six in 10 Americans approve of the job Donald Trump is doing to combat the coronavirus crisis, pushing the president’s approval rating – 49% - to the highest of his presidency, according to a poll released Tuesday by Gallup.

BS. My wife was in Wuhan when this whole thing started. She flew back on January 15th and was screened at the airport and given a card from the CDC on COVID-19 signs and symptoms.

That was in JANUARY. The CDC knew this was coming and they informed Trump, who did nothing for nearly SIX WEEKS.

We had one chance to lock this thing down before it got out of hand.

This administration failed to act and we are now looking at THOUSANDS of dead Americans.

You call this "spot on"? LOL!

This will be Trump's legacy. And future Americans are going to ponder why we installed a crooked game show host in to the highest position in government.

Baloney! Trump stopped travel from China. He did other things as well. Perhaps you could fill us in on what should have been done.....I doubt you will.

Unlikely there will be 30%, but even 15% would be pretty terrible.

Let's remember that when there is 15% unemployment, another maybe 20% of the workforce are struggling in bad jobs and don't have available opportunities to switch to something better. So the percentage of people suffering is more than the actual unemployment rate.

Anyway, this goes to show just how fragile the economy actually is.
