    Yes.

You are irrationally afraid of this virus.

Is your point anything other than Sweden is facing fewer deaths than France so far?

Your unsubstantiated and unjustified opinion is never going to get me to re-evaluate my opinion of this virus or any other subject.

The decision has been made that anyone who gets in the vicinity of Pres. Trump and VP Pence must first be tested for COVID-19.

This is eminently smart and should have been done the last 3 weeks.

Also, Trump and Pence should not even be in the same room with each other. BTW, people can be asymptomatic and before their viral load is enough, quite possibly test negative for COVID-19 and at the same time, be a carrier of the virus. So, to be very draconian, even testing everyone who comes in near the Pres. is actually not enough. It would need to be people who have been isolated for at least 10 days and have tested negative for COVID-19 more than once.

No matter what your political inclinations, it would not be good for the USA to lose it's upper elected leadership to this scourge.

Why don't we do this for the common flu or any other disease? You are fear mongering. The media is glad that you are.

The point being they were helped and it was Florida who took them in they were not turned away.

How dare anyone point the finger of blame at anyone's actions on covid19, if a person has not walked in those shoes they cannot say what they would do. The first instinct is to protect your own. Other countries knew they had citizens on that ship. Where were they?

I have no idea why the secret service is allowing them to be in the same room, let alone on the same stage. Madness.

When was the last time that hospitals were over run and doctors and nurses treating patients died due to a outbreak of flu?

We know why everyone got worked up. Florida did take them in as we took in the Cubans, Haitians and anyone else that needed a place to go.

Only after MASSIVE pressure was exerted upon DeSantis to do what should have been a no brainer. So, yeah, I point the finger of blame at him for such stupidity.

But you are right, the first instinct is to protect your own. Indeed. ALL AMERICANS ARE OUR OWN. This is why we have "E pluribus unum" (out of many, one). It's the United States of America, not the United States of Florida. What part of that do you not understand?

As far as other countries, once the people have gone through quarantine, they can be picked up by their land origin. That is actually pretty standard.

For some inexplicable reason, Dr. Anthony Fauci, in a last-minute decision, has been excluded from today's WH briefing on COVID-19.

    That does not bode well.

    ****************************************************************************************************************

Before I begin, I started this thread exactly three weeks ago this evening. HERE IS THE OP. That evening, I reported 156,086 COVID-19 cases and 5,821 deaths (3.73% death rate). As you will read, within 21 days, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased seven-fold, while the number of deaths has increased ten-fold.

    ****************************************************************************************************************

    *1,095,007*
    +85,280 cases today over yesterday

So, at end of my day, 11:59 PM on April 3rd, 2020 (GMT +2), the COVID-19 numbers:

    2020-04-003 COVID-19 EOD 001.png

Today, we came in just 4,000 cases under the 1.1 million mark. Just yesterday, we blew past the 1 million mark itself. Yesterday, we crossed over, unfortunately, 50,000 deaths. Today, we came close to 60,000 deaths. That is horrifying, but a sign of exponential growth. Very sobering

But by far most critical thing from today's data, absolutely inescapable, is once again the marked rise in the death rate, to 5.37%. (It was 5.23% yesterday at EOD). That may not seem like a big deal, but when the numbers go into the hundreds of millions, and likely, into the billions, 2-tenths of a percentage point can mean a lot of lives. Or deaths.

The Excel-Table back to 02/27 (you will notice, the table now fills up the entire screenshot, soon I will need 2 to cover the table):

    2020-04-003 COVID-19 EOD 002.png

In the raw numbers, there were somewhat more new cases today over yesterday (+85,280) as compared to yesterday over the day before (+79,088 ). The somewhat good news is that as the pie overall grows larger, these numbers actually represent a smaller growth rate. So, for the fourth day in a row, we saw total COVID-19 cases growth rate under 10% (8.45%, yesterday it was 8.50%), which, over time, would definitely flatten an exponential curve.

In terms of deaths: 58,786 total, +5,931 today over yesterday, making for a 11.22% growth rate (yesterday: 13.00%), is not good. The growth rate of deaths from today to yesterday once again outpaced the growth rate of COVID-19 cases added to the sum total.

The % of recovered people actually ticked downward very slightly, from 20.99% yesterday to 20.83% at EOD today.

And per country, most of the countries, first per total cases, in descending numerical order:

    2020-04-003 COVID-19 EOD 003.png 2020-04-003 COVID-19 EOD 004.png 2020-04-003 COVID-19 EOD 005.png 2020-04-003 COVID-19 EOD 006.png

There are now 55 nations in the "thousand club", with Algeria, Quatar and Ukraine crossing over the 1,000 line today. Of those 55, 15 are in the "10,000 club" and 3 of them are at 100,000 or more (USA, Italy, Spain). Germany will cross over the 100,000 line by then end of day on Sunday, in two days. Slovenia, Egypt, Estonia, New Zealand and Hong Kong are up next to cross the 1,000 line, either tomorrow or Friday.

And here, per new deaths today, in descending numerical order. France had by far the most deaths today:

    2020-04-003 COVID-19 EOD 007.png

At the end of the day, France reported 1,120 deaths just for today. France also went over 1,000 yesterday, but the report was that a goodly amount of that was deaths from days previous from retirement homes that had not been reported yet. It remains to be seen whether that is also the case today. The USA, with 990 deaths, was the nation with the second most misery today.

Soon, we will be jumping more than 100,000 cases and more than 10,000 deaths per day. WE MUST FLATTEN THE CURVE.

So the Coronavirus is comparable to Spanish flu where over 50,000,000 died worldwide and 675,000 died in US yet you think that this is all fear mongering

I watched the Corona task-force briefing. Until now I have been very positive about what goes on.
But this briefing really sucked today.
    It was terrible.

Trump looked tired. He behaved in a very irritated way. Birx looked defeated. Pence did the Elf on the Shelf thing.

And when confronted with DIRECT QUOTES of himself, Trump often just plain old lies and says it wasn't so. How stupid. There's video, there's audio.

And maybe next time, when a female reporter, usually a POC, asks him a legitimate question, calling her question (or her person) "nasty" and then himself being nasty to her is just plain old elementary school crap. Fer Chrissakes, we are in the middle of a deadly pandemic. I expect far better than this of any President, regardless of party or inclinations.

There have been days where there was a Corona task-force briefing that I thought was helpful and good for us, the American people. Today was not one of those days.

    It really did suck today.

    blech.
