There are two extremes here. One is how people like myself are being viewed. All we want to do is live life. The other extreme is the other way around. Staying in your house, not going out unless absolutely necessary, being sickened by the idea fellow Christians should be able to celebrate together on Easter, at that point you become overly protective. To the point I'd argue the fear has overcome your ability to think sensibly. It's the reason I've stopped listening to Dr, Fauci. If anything, he's only making the situation worse. I was never listening to Trump in the first place, but I had to draw the line when Fauci was simply fear mongering saying this virus is going to kill 200,000 Americans. We all know it isn't going to.

I could give into the fear, never leave my house, disinfect on a daily basis, criticize those going out and living life, but I'm a free thinker. I realize this isn't a life or death situation here, and yes we will survive. If being a free thinker is misbehaving, then consider me guilty as charged, but someone has to stop listening to such exaggerations whether its Trump or the medical community.

If someone said that open heart surgery is a good thing for people with heart problems then it's totally understandable when they get their mechanic buddy to attempt open heart surgery? That is exactly what you are saying. It isn't a false hope if done buy a doctor and you can't legislate that people not do stupid things. It just doesn't work.

yep, if I get it, I want to get it while ventilators are available... if we can make it through the peak we have better odds of surviving

people literally drown in their own fluids if they can't get a ventilator and need one

Look at what not calling off mardegras did for Louisiana ! Are you mentally challenged? Or just irrational?

In order to catch this virus requires contact with someone who is infected !

Or you inhale what they expire from their body. Not rocket science!

So if someone has it but lives a mile away you will not get it from him.

I got so tired of banging my head against the wall. It was causing me to be too anxious. I'm already blown away at the insane speed this thing is spreading. There's nothing like it in our history.

So, yesterday, I started putting all the idiots in iggy. I don't know who are you arguing with, but he/she went into my iggy box, yesterday. They literally do not care how many die or how much the morgues & funeral homes run out of space or that doctors & nurses are exhausted.... none of this matters to them. So, I simply just stopped reading their nonsense version of crazy.

My iggy box went from 2 to 23 in one day. My forum experience is much more peaceful today, and it's easier to get valid information, now.

For one thing, no, people outside these compromised demographics have also been killed by the virus. For another, even if the virus doesn't pose a lethal risk to you, it is CONTAGIOUS. You run the risk of passing it to others. "YOLO" is a bad excuse to get people killed just because you were feeling antsy. Try showing respect for the lives of those around you instead of putting them at risk just because you feel like a spring breaker.

You failed to actually read my post.

I stated clearly in the very first sentence of my post that the fish tank death was a case of stupidity.

What I stated was that Trump stated that this compound was successful when medical testing does NOT support that.

AND, the result of that is that people who DO need the compound are finding it hard to obtain due to the resultant hording.

The aircraft carrier Roosevelt had to evacuate hundreds of sailors positive for COVID.

Do you believe you are less susceptible to COVID than are sailors on duty?

You should reconsider your view that you are smarter than all medical science.

We have no way of knowing if our clothes, shoes, phone, keys, wallet, bags etc become contaminated while out. And anything we purchase while out is an even higher risk. ALL must be decon'd, for household security.

You misunderstand - completely ... the house and land are not decontaminated. Our house and property are covered in ordinary pathogens. People, dogs, gardens, chickens, etc. It's anything which has come from outside the property which is decontaminated.

    1) I'd rather not die, period.

    2) We are hiking, also - because we can walk directly into a vast forest. We don't need to drive to a packed parking lot. We also spend between 4 and 6 hours a day gardening.

    3) Only city dwellers are 'boarded up'. I don't live in a city .. I live in a spacious house, with all the windows and French doors wide open to our very leafy and abundant large plot of land. Again, you seem to misunderstand what isolation means.

Well then perhaps you can explain why it's so bad there?

New York, for example? There are densely populated cities all over the world, but none of them are as bad as New York. Nowhere near it. What do you think the problem is, if not human behaviour?

I have considered doing the same thing for the liars who must lie to remain a blind partisan.

I've been cleaning house. Blind partisans on both sides are now being blissfully ignored. It's much easier to talk to the reasonable people when the noise is filtered out.

Befote I came here I was a membet for years on another forum of mostly principled honest people . It was a small forum that went defunct and vanished. Minimal liars and very tesponsible members. I could never find anothet one like it .

All that I perused had too much partisan blindness and required too many liars with no integrity.

But we have a few honest people here so I joined up. And a few partidans who are honest even if I cannot agree with many of their beliefs.

I hold some right of centet beliefs and values but mostly a classic liberal that hardly exists these days. So not a purist at all . I dont think an individual thinker can be a purist.

I'm similar - Libertarian light, I like to call myself.

I was on a similar forum that got closed down when it got a bit "too" free speech/filled with loons, so the forum owner just shut it down.

People aren't covering their mouths to cough or sneeze--or even use cough drops. A theory I have is because there is a large Italian-American population in New York, there's the possibility people may have been to Italy. Same thing for Massachusetts. New York tends to be packed like sardines. You have people using the subway, Times Square is like Tokyo. LA is more spaced out, and more people tend to use personal transportation to commute. That's how New York is so bad.

I'd say that's half true. My car, for example, uses a fob. Never leaves my pocket, in or outside of the vehicle. Quality detergent will take care of our clothes.

I have a good idea of what isolation is, and what kind of isolation these experts are calling for. It's never leaving your house due to the fear of becoming asymptomatic. which is how COVID-19s victims start out. I leave the house on a daily basis. Could I be asymptomatic? Who knows? One thing I can guarantee is I'm out and about everyday, and I don't feel the slightest bit ill. It's nice you're able to get fresh air.

I don't believe I'm any less susceptible than the sailors who are on board. Where I drew the line with medical science was the estimate of 200,000 Americans dying from COVID. That said, I believe that the same kind of medical science will find some sort of vaccine. It'll just take months, like all vaccines. I've been beefing up my system with Vitamin C and D. There are 100-year old's that have beat this disease. It goes to back my original statement that just because you test positive for COVID, that doesn't subject you to some life or death situation.
