    What a vindictive SOB;

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/03/politics/trump-fires-inspector-general-michael-atkinson/index.html

"Atkinson's firing is the latest case of the Trump administration removing officials who took part in the President's impeachment. Trump also removed Alexander Vindman, a then-National Security Council official who had testified in the House's proceedings, along with Vindman's twin brother and then-US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland."

When good men do the right thing. the lawful thing, and then lose their jobs it is past the time for a change of "leadership."

Wait i thought Sondland was a bad guy who bought his position???

What makes you think Vindman was a good guy? Cause he is military?

Was Randy Cunningham was in the military and a Vietnam hero.. does that make him a good guy no matter what else he does?

This is just baseless political hatred.

I find it funny that those that are hollering that Trump is doing this when they know damn well that they would do the same exact thing if they were in a position of power. NO leader is willing to work with people they can't trust.

This is nothing more than fake outrage.

The dumbest thing trump did was not fire every Democrat he had the power to fire when he came in. Democrats literally hide hurricane relief from hurricane victims for political gain. Every Democrat in government is doing similar stuff.

That was the primary purpose of the investigations started as soon as he was elected. Once he was under investigation he couldn't do what the past two Democratic presidents did and fire all of the US Attorneys and clean house in the DOJ and the rest of the Executive Department because it would all be framed as coverup and obstruction. This was an attempted coup; there's no doubt. It wasn't successful but the damage to the country and the presidency will be felt for decades, if not centuries.

How'd he last that long? Clearly he wasn't very good at his job if he couldn't see an exoneration coming...

The IG doesn't "work with" the President.

    The IG is oversight.

    Can't have honest oversight...

You're right...the IG doesn't work with the President. They work FOR the President. The IG is under Executive Branch control. Which means Trump is thier boss. And no boss is going to keep someone around that they do not trust. That is a simple fact of life.

And you want over sight of the Prez? Talk to Congress. There's a reason they were given that job instead of the Executive Branch. It's called Seperation of Powers.

They conduct oversight of the Executive Branch

That's the ONLY interaction that should exist between a President and an IG

Of COURSE as corrupt President doesn't want oversight of his Branch

So you not only support firing the IG...you want to abolish the position

    I see.

It's so much easier to be corrupt when no one's there to see it...right?

Why make two separate posts to respond to one? :confusion: Thanks though, makes it easy for me.

Then perhaps maybe Congress, when creating the position, shouldn't have made it a part of the Executive Branch. Or better yet, leave it as part of the Executive branch only have it investigating Congress members and Judicial members only. And then make another position, under the Legislatives Branch control that investigates everything about the Executive Branch. I've said for YEARS that Congress has given up too much of its authority to the Executive Branch. Maybe they should start abolishing various agencies and taking back control and start doing their job.

Btw, firing the head of the IG doesn't stop all investigations. In fact it doesn't stop ANY. So you're just using hyperbole when you say that last sentence there.

Wouldn't YOU fire someone that you don't trust if you ran a company? Be honest. Like it or not the President HAS to have people that he/she can Trust in order to do their job effectively. If they can't trust someone then they won't believe whatever it is that they say. They'll have to verify it via someone that they do trust. Which takes time. And sometimes time is of the essence. That I have to explain this simple fact is astounding really.

    As for abolishing, read above.

You fire your compliance officer after he exposes wrong doing in your company and you have a problem

Under the old rules, there was something wrong with the whole sale replacement of one set of staff with another every time there was a new POTUS but, and this is an unfortunate thing, like never before, the deep state is teaching us that it appears this is going to have to be the case as they are hopelessly politicized and can be counted upon to try to undermine the boss. We cannot have that either. How much time should we waste making one set of rules for Trump and another for Leftist/Deep Staters? Sadly, it is time this stops. From now on, I do think there is going to need to be a huge turn-over after every party change at the top.

That assumes that there is some deep ideology involved.

    There isn't.

These "Deep Staters" as you call them are simply people dedicated to doing the job they were hired to do.

If your job is to oversee the health of the nation...ideology SHOULD have nothing to do with it
