He probably won't get an apology. The fact checkers are all on the Left. It's interesting that the one expert cited by the MSM as opposing coronavirus conspiracy theories now thinks the Wuhan lab should be investigated:

Cotton had NO business spreading a rumor like that.

The rumor amounted to a claim that China attacked us with a bioweapon.

Between their case numbers(rofl), between the lab and everything in between? It's a fact that China lied, and the rest of the world is sick and they refuse culpability. We're dealing with a Stalin-esque regime, but some want to lay off the CCP.

Nah, not me. We've got to sanction them heavily, shut down their wetmarkets completely and get them up to speed with how the rest of the world governs edibles.

Cotton doesn't get a pass for the simple (naturally) way he made his unproven connection.

    SNIP
“We don’t know where it originated, and we have to get to the bottom of that,” Cotton said Sunday. “We also know that just a few miles away from that food market is China’s only biosafety level 4 super laboratory that researches human infectious diseases.”
    ENDSNIP

Anybody who makes that sort of connection without facts deserves all the scorn the media can muster... and it's a fair amount..

Example.... "Donald Trump is obese..... We also know that just a few miles away, restaurants are doing a record take out business since the stay at home orders started."

So the only lab at that level they have in the entire country just happens to be near ground zero of the disease and you cant discuss it? Or do you think its "racist" like the guy that doesnt read much?

Well, I have a couple problems with this one.

First, local officials in China did try to hide the seriousness of the disease, following a pattern of preventing such news getting out. However, their central government corrected that pretty much as soon as they found out about it. I don't believe we can "blame" it on China when the miscreants were local leaders who were fired and whose actions were corrected.

As to where it came from, it is not yet known. There is evidence now that it didn't come from wet markets. It seems more likely that it came from bats - though that isn't known for sure either.

Finally, we are not going to "fix" China. And if we ever thought we could, the failure of our tariffs should force us back to reality. And, we can't even fix OUR problems with poverty, so demanding that China immeiately fix their problem with poverty is nutty from the start.

Besides, such ridiculous argument assumes that China isn't already trying to fix their problems.

I might add that references to horrible leaders in history does not add anything, especially when the case in point doesn't even apply.

So arresting scientists was your way of saying they "corrected it"?

Why would ending wet markets lead to poverty? Did it in the case when they did for a short term afters SARS?

Like I said before: That poverty excuse is BS. India is following food regulations, so is Sri Lanka and damn near the entire world. One of the very few nations that don't abide by the INTL food regulations, is the country where the disaster came from. It's only right for the world to ask for reforms, and for them to carry them out.

If Japan apologized for its rightful war crimes, China can apologize for the virus.

    Cotton was not "discussing it".

And, I did not suggest that racism had anything to do with Cotton's gross misstep.

(You can use my screen name - I promise it's safe for you to come out of hiding.)

    Yes he was discussing it...

Oh i see you just wanted to call Trump a racist for no reason again.. I see.

I've been here nine years and taking the worst the Liberal Progressive Underground group here has thrown at me.. Hasnt changed me in the least so your hiding comment is quite funny.

I agree that the WAY they fixed it was not good. But, that's not the point. The point is that they DID make a strong move to fix it.

I thinnk it's the other way around. Wet markets are part of poverty. As long as there is severe poverty there will be unclean conditions. Of course, the government could step in and provide a more expensive way of providing food, I suppose. However there is always significant resistence to that as it is expensive. Ask Republicans!

    Hmmm...

The OPINION of someone writing for a Right-Wing Publication under a pseudonym?

    A. G. Hamilton is the pseudonym of a licensed attorney.

It still seems like Cotton is spreading some far-fetched tinfoil hat stuff.
    But, who really knows?

Making accusations of chemical attacks without having the facts to back it up is not good foreign policy. This isn't some small middle eastern government or terrorist organization. There will be tons of research into how the virus came to be and how it got into humans already. There's simply no need to try and jumpstart that kind of research, it won't need to be. Save the claims about bio attacks or bio weapons until there is evidence of such.

Now, from what I understand, Tom Cotton was someone who was sounding the alarm pretty early on about the threat of the virus, and in that respect he does deserve praise.

So arresting scientists telling the truth is a strong move......

The Wet markets started after the Great Leap Forward lead to famine.. i guess that was another "strong move" you agree with but dont "support"..

Marxists are coming out in the open.

You think the only reason its is issue is its "unclean"? Such an understatement!

You are just wrong. Get over it.

I did not connect racism to Cotton in any way. And, I didn't use that event to chart Trump with anything, either.

Nine years and still make fundamental errors in reading posts.

So is just a strange coincidence that should not have any investigation on the matter whatsoever?

This isn't the first time Trump has made racist statements that are followed by way to little and way too late.

In context of the "rumor" spread by Cotton you ranted about Trump so please just run along.

The investigation is going to happen regardless. Making the claims about bio weapons wasn't ever necessary. The origins and workings of this virus will be studied extensively by researchers the world over. It already is.

So if a radiation spike was found near a nuclear power plant it would be racist to link the two but just want for some groups to investigate it in the future? Got you

India still has markets where animals are slaughtered in the market - wet markets.

Food regulations on India included requiring rice to sold only in packaged form where packagning was done in factories following international regulations.

The result was that traditional small farmers can no longer sell rice - BUT, America can sell rice into those villages.

Tell me how much that helped.

You Japan thing is just plain preposterous in that Japan's war crimes were purposeful, and in NO way was China attempting to kill its own people with a new virus.

You really need to work on your analogies. I'm SURE you don't mean what your analogies could possibly indicate.
