The reaction of the Democrats is irrelevant to the debate.

What's important, however, is that when Trump imposed a travel ban, the majority of western countries imposed a general quarantine.

Trump was always a week late in dealing with this pandemic.

He didn't take it seriously until it was too late.

He was trivializing this until four days ago.

He still refuses to issue a national shelter in place order. He refuses to follow distancing guidelines and brags about it.
    .
And it is unlikely that the travel ban from China had much effect. A very small percentage of the population had it. And an American brought it here from China. Americans were never stopped from travel. And it was already here before travel for the Chinese was stopped.

What dems were worried about was starting a war on Chinese Americans. Of course trump tried to exploit prejudice.

Trump is killing more Americans than all previous presidents combined. His ego, arrogance, and stupidity will kills tens of thousands of people.

Even now there are people here at PF trivializing the pandemic because of trump and the rw media.

Aside from the interpretations of Bidens comments, do we have a list of Dems who went on record calling the ban xenophobic? I can't find one. Everything I'm reading speaks to the fact that the horse was already out of the barn when the ban was called. And even then, it wasn't a 'ban'.

No, the canard is camouflaging the inevitable, periodic loss of human life as some kind of special case towards the obvious benefit of several self-interest groups who milk each moral panic thoroughly as they come down the pike every few years or even less. This is just the latest exaggeration tailored to scare people into giving more and more of their freedoms, power and money to a Soprano level Thug-Crime-State that corruptly, ineptly and EXPENSIVELY mishandles social problems taxpayers ostensibly pay through the nose for solutions.

How many boondoggles do you want? Our last incompetent POTUS just let people DIE outright rather than closing the Southern border and keeping his precious, rotten vote buying scheme intact. Just one of HUNDREDS of corrupt ****ups over a century or more. This latest Corona Scam is just beyond the pale, something even Paulie Walnuts or Silvio would hesitate to pull.

BTW, I've never been "loyal to Trump" in any meaningful way, and my posts attest to that, presenting objections to mountains of childish, fallacious attack ad equivalents isn't being particularly "loyal" to anything other than basic logic, honesty and a distaste for obvious shills and liars. Just more of a detractor of progressivism, statism, Marxism, communism, and the Democrat Party as criminal groups. I gladly defend Trump from many of the mountains of lies of the aforementioned, but that's 80% putting a thumb in bad, defective interests' eye than any intentional defense of Trump.

True or False, in NYC all deaths are being counted as COVID deaths regardless of the actual cause of death? TRUE OR FALSE?

Heart attack with Obesity Diabetes mixed WHOLLY ASYMPTOMATIC? Covid.
    Stabbing with positive? Covid.
40 year smoker on oxygen hasn't been able to walk more than ten feet for years? Covid.

Are there OUTLIER cases of bad reactions to Covid and "perfect storms" of coincidences and comorbidity? Yes... just like EVERY ****ING FLU and MANY MYRIADS of diseases that affect middle aged people and up.

SEE HOW THE SCAM WORKS? FOLLOW THE MONEY AND WAKE UP... those of you who aren't shills anyway.

Any sincere posters reading, PLEASE do your self a favor and read the very old but good book "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crownds" Charles Mackay. Have reread it every few years for decades, highly recommended in light of this particular MORAL PANIC and all the rest.

I like that "Soprano level Thug-Crime-State" And so appropriate. Tump has behaved like a mafia boss since day one. Well there's a remedy for that: vote

So... bottom line you're saying that this "virus" is a worldwide conspiracy to get Trump out of power.

Guess what... it might just work!

The problem that I'm sure the governor's are having to address is the risk of outbreaks in those rural areas which are going to have far less medical resources available. Not just supplies, but hospitals and doctors and nurses. Where I live in PA, we have a hospital, but the next nearest hospital is 45 minutes away and it's a bigger city hospital in a county with a lot more infections than we have. Our local hospital has 15-20 ventilators, with 2 of them currently in use by non-COVID patients. If we get a flair up here, it's bad news. And I know there are parts of the country with even less availability of medical resources than that even.

I've lived in the country for almost all of my child and adult life. People here don't really have any more social distance in their daily routines than they do in the bigger cities. Yes there is less population density, but there is still enough activity here that the virus could easily spread if introduced. Today they just announced the 6th case in our county.

I see libs keep showing everyone their level of education.
The President of the US does not issue national shelter in place because he has no authority to do so. Nowhere in constitution it says that the POTUS can restrict someone’s freedom.
When Trump brags about his refusal to issue such order he literally says - look at a bunch of stupid people who have no clue what constitution is and let’s laugh at their MSM claims.

My governor has not issued shelter in place and said he has no intention on doing so, I agree with him. It's a useless play on words. What good would such thing do that we're not already doing. In Arkansas, he already ordered some non essential businesses closed, he has closed some/most campgrounds, closed the Nat'l park, closed schools, and things are going well. We are well below the projected cases and our number of new cases are not climbing. What more would a shelter in place order do? Nothing.

People are making the claim that this will cost us lives. I'd love to hear how this happens? From what I've heard from some of my family in Louisiana, who are under shelter in place, is we have more restrictions than they do. It's just words that mean little to nothing.

    They are?

NY is at 182 deaths per M
NJ is at 85 deaths per M

WY is at 0 per M
WV is at 1 per M

Of the top 10 states, including DC getting hardest hit, only one is a Red State.

Of the 10 states with the lowest death rates, 8 are Red States.

So, it looks to me like the Republican States are doing a good job.

There are some Blue States doing a great job too, HI, MN, VA, CA.

Looks like your claim is refuted by the facts.
    Yup!

A lot of these spread out states are socially distanced as a lifestyle. Looks like those folks pushing high density housing and public transportation set up the folks that went for it, for a whole lot of death.

    NY has 212/M dead

    WY has 0/M dead
    HI, WV 2/M
    UT 3/M
    NB, ND, NC 4/M
    TX, MN, AK, SD 5/M

That's a LOT of Red States in the best group. Looks like the science points toward a lot of Red State doing a better job controlling the spread.

A number of folks are also getting tire of the Fake News Slanderers.

It was with great pleasure that we saw Dr. Birx To Fake News CNN Reporter: Keep The Politics Out Of It, Buddy.

Takes No Crap Off Fake News Blowhards
It takes a special kind of obnoxious belligerence for a Fake News reporter to go one on one with President Trump and lose badly, yet double down later to try to make it up on Dr. Deb Birx. Fake News CNN’s Sassy Jim Acosta was on the receiving end of a world class b-slappin' delivered by Dr. Deb during Friday’s White House coronavirus task force briefing.

Dr. Birx, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator, didn’t appreciate Fake News Sassy Jim trying to score political points on a topic of extreme gravity. Dr. Birx was addressing the “who knew what when” part of the coronavirus pandemic as we know it so far when Sassy Jim rudely interrupted her and tried to mansplain how the bad Orange Man botched the U.S. response from the get-go.

What gall for a Fake News reporter from Fake News CNN, of all news outlets, to try to point a finger of blame for what he thinks was some sort of incompetence exhibited by the president. Fake News CNN is proven consistently wrong about major stories that attack Trump and his presidency, after all. Russia, Russia, Russia, anyone?

And the new line of attack is that these Red States, with very low infection and death rate are "killing" people, while the leaders in New York, with some of the highest death rates in the world are the heroes of the epidemic.

I don't think these lines of attack really fool anyone but the cocooned.

I think it has more to do with population density. Infection rate seems to jump in really high pop density areas, and so does progressivism. It makes plenty of sense why the more heavily effected areas are predominantly blue, due simply to their high pop density.

Of course it does, and lower population density is a long term lifestyle choice for these folks, and as it turns out, a damn good one in a pandemic.
Yup. A lot of things the "progressives" push, and frankly there is nothing "progressive" about "progressiveism", are deadly in a pandemic; high density housing, public transportation and reuseable grocery bags are 3 that come quickly to mind. These spread out areas probably have less human contact without S-I-P than high density areas have with it.

Yet, all these guys can do when they look up from their video games is claim that these Governors are "killing Americans"? It's worth the time to soundly refute this nonsense.

This reflexive "one size fits all" nonsense from these folks makes no sense in a great nation like ourselves with so much diversity of lifestyle.

As much as these folks continually squawk about tolerance and understanding toward others, it sure would be nice to see some of it from them now and then rather than the continual slander and name-calling.

I do not agree with closing the overnight parking at national parks, too many elderly living their dream, they live in a RV, that is their home, kicking them out of a park puts them in more danger as they have no where else to go, they worked their entire lives to live their dream, let them park and isolate in peace

can close gatherings, but people have to have a place to stay

the rest I agree with, people are self-isolating and businesses closing regardless if the order exists or not

As of Saturday, Arkansas has now banned out of state visitors from staying in hotels and other short term rentals. There are exceptions obviously like people here for work, visiting sick family etc.
