God vs Science: Who Wins?

Yes indeed. There will be wailing and knashing of teeth just like in 2016. The news media, leftist politicians, and Progressive educated minions will tear their hair out. It's a good kind of misery enjoyed by many!

 

I admire Ayn Rand. Her achievements in epistemology and ethics are on the same level as Copernicus’s Heliocentricism in astronomy and Einstein’s Theory of Relativity in physics.

However, my allegiance is to reason, not Ayn Rand. But she is reason’s greatest champion. She is Aristotle’s intellectual daughter. She is Man’s greatest defender. She is the universe’s brightest star.

Furthermore, Rand would admonish any who would surrender their independent judgement to anything but their reason. As she does here:

Read Of Human Action, Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal, Capitalism and Freedom, The End of Laissez Faire, The Road to Serfdom, Economics in One Lesson, Free Market Revolution, Equal is Unfair, In Defense of Financial Markets, and held my nose while I read, Das Capital.

But even if I hadn’t, one’s reason ought to teach one this: You can’t drink water from an empty well no matter how much one believes rain is coming tomorrow, nor how many believe with you.

And suggesting that borrowing money from tomorrow to pay for your borrowing of the past is not the path to insolvency and bankruptcy suggests that you are the one needing more study of basic economics, not I—if you eat tomorrow’s seed corn now, what are you planting in the spring for next winter? Empty promises?

 

I admire the Bible. Just introspectively devouring it's pages emits more wisdom than any science journal or blog filled with the thoughts of other people. It is alive and active and designed to confound those that feel they are wise in their own eyes. I am an independent thinker and I am free from the idea that mankind has all the answers. I do not put my trust in your intellectual gymnastics or those of Ayn Rand. You both have failures though you are not prone to admit....clay feet if you will. My faith goes where those failures are not.....absolutely! Einstein even confessed the more he learned, the more he acknowledged there was something greater than himself.

For everyone that wants to tear my Bible apart, I would say you take anyone of your mentors, and they can be torn apart if everything was to be known about them. Unless they have the courage to admit they have clay feet, they are nothing!

 

She is a god to you.....and your religion as well.

 

If by God you mean I consider her ideas the best within me...guilty, proudly. If by religion you mean fidelity to reality...again, just as proudly guilty. You got me.

The Eastern Orthodoxy - especially the Russian and Greek brands - is far more fundamentalist than anything else you have in the US. Stalin didn't go after the Church because he was an atheist, but because he knew first hand what tremendous power it had over people's minds and hearts. He tried to eliminate the competition.

Parading Stalin as a mainstream atheist is terribly wrong, as he was himself the product of that religious fundamentalism, like many of his communist cronies.

What you charactorize as "religious fundamentalism" I equate with the sect of Pharisees as described in the Bible. They take the law portion of scripture, amend it, then they religously try to obey it in order to be pleasing to God. IMHO Christianity is not that. Christianity is accepting the provision of God and allowing Him to empower us in the pursuit of righteousness. Not by our own effort....but His. I understand you must "believe" to accept this....but it is not an invented game.
By my definition, Stalin was an atheist or at best a l humanist. He eliminated all Christian opposition in order to glorify the State. Religious Fundumentalism, Communism, and Stalin al had in common at least one single factor......POWER!
