I have thought about this lately. No living generation in the U.S has experienced a genuine struggle for survival on a national scale since the greatest generation. What "data" are you referring to? The number of confirmed cases? That's a good indication of a widespread testing regime, not a failure. On the number of deaths, we still have fewer total deaths than Italy and Spain, and on a per-capita basis we've got a lower death rate than a whole slew of European countries.

And we have the highest number of deaths of any country and we are well down on the curve compared to Italy and Spain. Trump has once again made America a leader!

Do you seriously believe that America is somehow the special target of God's COVID wrath? You seriously don't understand that this is tearing across the entire planet, and the 2nd and 3rd world nations are going to suffer exponentially worse for their lack of resources to deal with this pandemic?

America DOES NOT have more cases of COVID, and it's utterly foolish to think we do. What America has is more testing than places like Mexico, which have about none testing.

Mexico isn't reporting many COVID cases, because Mexico isn't even bothering to count COVID cases.

The notion that this is somehow "America's plague" or "The Trump Pox" is just really, really dumb.

 

The median age of Mexico is 27. The median age of Italy is 45. Mexico may not have as much a problem with this as a lot of people think. They may be better off just letting it rip and it might not create that much of a humanitarian crisis.

The brutal fact is, the virus hurts first world countries more because we do more heroic measures to save people in hospitals. Rich countries have a lot of people living well with chronic diseases that would just kill you in a poor country. A poor young country without much in the way of health care might not even really notice this, outside of it decimating what old people do live in that country.

ETA: the median age of Iran is 31, and they're having a hell of a time, so maybe everything I said there is worthless.
