I have had to venture out a few times over the last two weeks. A number of the local stores have people I know to be big trumpers working the cash registers. They gave themselves away when this all started by being reckless about health and safety practices.

It is getting worse. Now they are in denial and being intentionally reckless. When people see that, those of us with a brain will not shop at that store anymore.

There is one guy I know to be a trumper but I've never said a thing about it until today. He was working without a mask. I was wearing one. I pointed out that the CDC is recommending that everyone wear a mask now. He snapped back with something like, why should I care? I said that it without a mask, he might be putting other people's lives in jeopardy. I wasn't arguing or slamming him. I was being very pragmatic about it. I was hoping to appeal to his common sense.

F you, he replied as he walked away. Someone else saw this and came over to wait on me. Yeah, I spend a lot of money there and I will be talking to his boss on Monday. I will tell him why he lost one of his biggest customers.

I have seen many, including some of my own family and friends using this time to travel and such, it's weird, they just do not care

one asked if they could visit us.. like no, we are staying home to keep away from the virus, your traveling all over the country, you need to go back home and do the same, not put us at risk - the airline I think did not help by offering cheaper tickets in a time like this

I am only having contact with my gf. She is super freaky about this and extremely careful, so I guess the risk isn't too great. Truth is it goes against my better judgement. She is very young and I don't really know what all she does when she's not here. But I've logically convinced myself that based on what I do know about her, the risk is low. But I must admit, every now and then I think, "But am I sure enough to risk my life?".

She is gorgeous and I've always said she has a body to die for. I hope that was just a joke. :)

Aside from seeing her and a few very careful trips to the local stores, I have been completely isolated since the beginning of March. Doing a lot of Grubhub these days. And even that is a ritual because you have to assume that the bags or containers could be contaminated.

I have learned that you need to treat the virus like a fine dust. It transfers from surface to surface much like a very fine dust. And watch medical workers removing protective gear. They are very delicate and careful about not shaking it off on the floor. And they stand in a marked spot that is then cleaned.

    Fascinating.

The title of this thread should be- "Karen demands to speak to the manager."

As someone who actually does stay more than 2m from people in public I can tell you that there are a whole lot of power tripping people out there right now.

One lady screamed at me while I was in the park (a park that was open, mind you). Wearing an N95 mask, not going near anyone, she came to within a meter and started threatening she'd call the police. I told her to kindly **** off.

It takes a special sort of person to deliberately go to the park WITHOUT a mask and close a 1m distance to tell people walking ALONE with a MASK to go home because I'm killing people.

We need more people in the middle - those who agree or disagree with the measures being taken but minimise their contact, wash their hands, wear a mask, and don't power trip. If this turns into permanant authoritarian government across the West we can always take action later.

I do think we need some perspective though. Suicide kills 800,000 worldwide per year, it has killed more this year than coronavirus so far. Poverty caused by economic depressions causes death. So it's a balancing act. Maybe one heavily weighted in favor of the virus, but a balancing act nonetheless.

Some people like that witch in the park would hold their breath until death if she thought each breath carried a 0.00001% of infection.
