what a load of crap. I hate it when people say that poor people cant afford to eat healthy. How much does it cost for brown rice, low sodium kidney beans, some vegetables, and sardines? I was not talking about cases tested for Covid. I was responding to YOUR assertion that some people with undiagnosed Covid are being counted as the flu. It is strange that I respond to YOUR topic and then you change the subject. I acknowledged that your assertion about undiagnosed Covid definitely has occurred, and then I took that one step further to make only one point, which is valid in that we are not looking at an outsized number of flu deaths in comparison to recent years. We are solidly in the middle in regards to annual flu deaths.

Yes, such as pneumonia. Reported pneumonia deaths are way down. That sort of indicates the flip side of what you are saying where SOME deaths not DUE to Covid are being reported as such.

There isnt really much to debate here. There are aspects that can skew the results in both directions. There are undoubtedly deaths that occurred due to Corona that were called the flu back in January and February, when they were not testing for the virus and subsequent hospitalizations were still very low. There are also undoubtedly deaths now that are being attributed to Corona when in fact it is not the cause of death. Since the former was before the virus had really taken root in this country, I would personally conclude that the latter is a far greater impact since at this time the virus is extremely widespread.

Statistically, this is silly, and you had to go to something called the "gothamist" to find it. The problem with interacting with you is that you do not respond in any way to what was just said. A conversation is supposed to involve a give and take. From the outset I have readily acknowledged that there are aspects on both sides of the ledger. You do not have to keep counting just one side of that ledger, especially if you are going to go so far as to count the statistically insignificant number of people that are dead in their homes from Covid and did not bother to call an ambulance. Undoubtedly there are some dead people at home, but just how many people do you honestly think were slowly drowning in their own mucus and did not bother to call for help? Surely it has happened but a number that is going to substantively change the statistics on the matter?...absolutely not. Emergency rooms across the country have reported far fewer people coming in with ailments like chest pains because they are afraid of catching the virus at the hoispital. Surely this is what would mostly account for an increase in home deaths, not someone gasping for air that do not go to the hospital. At any rate, I am colossally bored with this conversation. I was one of those people drowning in the mucus in their lungs. I have heart failure, and had failing valves. I almost died, EVERY night. BUT, I could not just go to the hospital, particularly every night. I had no health ins, until Obama expanded medicaide, and would have died at home, were it not for that medicaide. Many folks are having trouble breathing, and are told to GO HOME. When not being able to breathe gets serious, you cannot get to the phone, or door. I KNOW. The fear of not being able to breathe, made me piss my pants, so I stumbled outside, to pee in the grass, till it passed. I stayed up almost all night every night, and stayed in a upright position to breathe.

MANY people are dying, thinking they will wait JUST a bit longer, before they call for help. I KNOW.

If you had heart failure, failing valves, and were almost dying nightly as you report, you clearly were not working and had not for an extended period of time as that condition does not arise acutely. If not working, you would have always qualified for Medicaid under any circumstance, not to mention the reality that any hospital in the country would be legally obligated to treat you for that set of ailments, and we are already assuming that you are under 65 and would not be covered under Medicare. That has nothing to do with Obama expanding Medicaid. Hell, you may as well thank him for the sun rising in the morning.
