People of color are worried they'll be racially profiled if they wear homemade face masks

So many people are wearing face masks in this situation. Will racial profiling be a problem? I wonder if criminals will take advantage of this?

 

Walking into a bank with a mask and gloves can raise an eyebrow.

 

Is this a legit concern, or SJW opportunism?

What should nonwhites be angry about; nonwhites who're responsible for the image of a masked criminal, or the handful of white people who're so uneasy with the sight of a colored person wearing a rag on their face that they call the police?

What if it makes other colored people nervous? What if a Filipino store owner is unnerved by a black guy approaching his building in a mask?

Do the people over at the NAACP think at all?

 

I have a friend who is a bank manager. We joked about this. She said she's actually glad the lobby is closed (due to COVID19 all business is being conducted via the drive thru) because it could be uncomfortable otherwise to have people coming in and out of the bank masked.

 

Just tell the Democrat mayor of any Blue city that you are a member of ANTIFA , a Muslim Sharia Lawyer or are a pro abortion transgender Code Pink Socialist... should be no problem

I've seen so many masks in the last week, this never occurred to me. But I have little experience with this baiting thing, except on the back end. Maybe I can practice that, i have 10 days off. Just start every sentence with "is this because i'm....?"

it's like if black people fear white skin heads with tattoos cause there is a trend of them being violent white nationalists - what if people wore sheets with eye holes cut out that looked like a kkk outfit.... woudl not be racial discrimination to fear that.. just means there is a bad history of people that dress like that

Interesting... I'm a Conservative, thereby supposed to be racist according to people like the NAACP, and I've had similar thoughts. But what I was wondering about is how long it'll be before antifa-like people start taking advantage of hiding their face since it was beginning to become an issue. But those peeps are mostly white.

Joe Biden said last night that the coronavirus affected more people of color than white people and he said that something needed to be done about that. I'd also wondered how long it would be before democrats started looking for a way to throw the coronavirus race card at Trump. And why wouldn't they? They blamed AIDS on Reagan as a way to kill blacks. They blamed Katrina on Bush and said he was trying to kill blacks. Now it's Trump's turn. Anytime blacks are killed by viruses that affect the immune system, it's blamed on Republicans.

 

Then you'll hear the news talk about a white Filipino, minus the Filipino part.

 

This gets at a bigger problem, how do we make public health policy taking into account different cultures, societies, populations etc. Let's say that a population that doesn't have a good record with the state is ignoring health advice from the state. How can the state convince people in that population to listen to them to change their behavior?

No where in that article does it state who blacks should fear. Since they tend to live among themselves and segregate themselves from the people folks like you claim would harm them, then it makes sense to conclude blacks are afraid of other blacks.

 

Only when they slip their mask down to spit or otherwise contaminate food on grocery shelves.

He should be in his personal vehicle, stopping in all 19,519 cities and visit every household to show them how to wear a face mask and wash their hands. Anything less is a failure and racist.

 

Yeah I more or less agree with that. He should be able to inspire all of us during these trying times, and make an effort to reach everyone regardless of political ideology.

 

Some are choosing to throw away freedom they did not earn for feel good measures. Pretty damn silly long term.
