It is in the existential interests of Republicans to frustrate as many Americans as possible in exercising their constitutional right

Trump, to the likely chagrin of the Party, openly acknowledged what everyone knows.

What would be the result if more Americans participated in our self-governance?

"You'd never have a Republican elected
    in this country again!"
    The hypocritical irony?

Fake Don arrogates to himself the right he contrives to deny to as many Americans as he can:

“Mail-in voting is horrible! It’s corrupt!”

A reporter asked how he could reconcile that position with the fact that he had personally voted by mail in the last election,

Lord, I hope people are forced to go back to work and leave their keyboards at home. If nothing else please shut down Al Gores internet for a week or two.
Oh, and please tell some posters that there is not a constitutional right to vote. It will save a lot of keystrokes.

Why should exercising a constitutional right be easy?

And herein lies the answer, right in the middle of your question.

    1. Prove you're an American
    2. Exercise your right to vote

    Yes, in this order. Duh.

You appear incapable of contriving an excuse for Trump exercising his right to cast an absentee vote while whining that “Mail-in voting is horrible! It’s corrupt!” because, as he has admitted, "You'd never have a Republican elected in this country again!"

Do you support Trump denying the right to other Americans that he claims for himself?

I have no idea whether you claim to be an American or not.

Trump denying a right to other Americans that he arrogates himself is hypocrisy that his even his most fanatical bum kissers cannot contrive excuses for. Let's not pander to such fanatics.

Depending on his schedule Trump may have had to cast an absentee ballot. Ever think?

As usual, the topics that the left freaks out over are nonsensical.

Trump has nothing to do with how the states conduct elections. 26 states do mail in ballots. If this is such an important issue than it should to be gone after at the state level. Trump has nothing to do with it.

    Very true, MJ.

    Natty's OPs are always exemplary.

    Definitely an Unsung Hero.

And, Natty is spot-on about the latest GOP attempt at voter suppression.

No doubt. That applies equally to all Americans eligible to vote, of course. Not all have private planes and chauffeured limoiusnes to take them to and from voting places.

His admitting that, if such a universal franchise could be exercised, "You'd never have a Republican elected in this country again!" exposes the GOP agenda, i.e., the fewer Americans who are enabled to vote, the better for them. (I do not agree with Trump's hysterical portent of GOP oblivion.)

Just as poll taxes, literacy tests, intimidation, and other methods of preventing some Americans from voting were employed by those threatened by the expression of the democratic will, so other excuses are now being contrived, and found to be equally bogus.

I expect that progress is ineluctable, and evolving technology will facilitate a citizen's voting as it has improved his banking, tax filing, bill paying, purchasing, and so many other normal activities.

Remember Trump appointing Kris "Bonehead" Kobach to catch the "millions" of invisible, illegal voters whom he claimed had all cast fake ballots against him?

It fizzled without a single such individual ever being uncovered.

Trump's lying about voter fraud was exposed when he appointed "Bonehead" Kobach to head his commission to expose the millions of invisible people who had all cast bogus ballots against Trump and cost him a popular vote victory.

The fake commission fizzled without a single illegitimate voter being found.

why is it democrats seem to be stuck in the 1960s with all their idiotic social justice and voter suppression garbage? It's been the same tired old playbook for the last 60 years.

Amusing. Fantasizing that there are not now electronic methods to facilitate a citizen's right to vote may my a notion stuck in the 1860s.

The poll tax was repealed in 1868, the Civil Rights Act enacted in 1964, the Voting Rights Act in 1965, The National Voter Registration Act in 1993. These and other legislative acts as well as numerous judicial findings were addressing attempts to prevent some Americans from voting.

Pretending that poll taxes, literacy tests, voter intimidation, etc. never existed is a blatant denial of documented history.

The four ways Republican "suppress" the vote.
    1. You can only vote once.

    2. You must be alive.

    3. You need a photo ID (oh, the wayciss horors!)

    4. Must be a US citizen.

Democrats vote early and vote often! They pick up a bunch of homeless people, give em a not meal and a pack of smokes and then bus them to multiple polling locations...

General mail in voting and absentee voting are two separate issues.

You have to jump through major hoops just to get a passport short of digging up your dead mother for a genetic link but I don't see the left complaining about that. The left would freak out of there were biometrics linking only one US citizen voter to only one vote. Remember, if it weren't for 30 years of illegal immigration, the Democrats would be the minority voters. It's scary how the Democrats are willing to destroy their country for a vote. But then again we just saw their true colors as they supported China's latest attack on the US with covid-19 so no surprise there....
