This. This pandemic proves how little Americans pay attention in school; specifically math & science. Anyone with a modicum of knowledge about this thing, realizes the isolation is working.

Times like this make it clearer than ever that there is no functional distinction between being an ideologue, a troll and genuinely stupid. All manifest so similarly that trying to work out which affliction specific posters suffer is pointless for practical purposes.

Unfortunately, you'll have the usual suspects claiming that the numbers showing that social distancing is working as showing evidence that the virus wasn't bad and that the projections were just a liberal hoax to hurt Trump. You can't convince the fact-challenged.

Until there is a vaccine, all of us are at risk. So, do you feel lucky?

I do wonder if society can do this even just to the end of April. I'm seeing more and more getting fed up, people starving and wanting to work, people actually talking about revolt already. Assuming we only stay "shut down" till the end of April seems like it's going to be hard enough, but I don't see most of society going anything beyond that. People are lining up already to get food for their families, so that's the start of the breakdown.

Bullcrap. Opening the economy can be done based on location and number of cases. There are plenty of areas in this country that have zero cases. They should be open right now.

Experts huh, what do they know?
Far better to listen to partisan hacks on internet forums than the leading experts in the field of pandemics.

This pandemic also shows how little the politicians pay attention to the economy. The nitwit governor of MI wants to shut down the non-essential areas of big box stores so people cannot buy paint, a replacement coffee maker, etc.

Absolutely, why should they miss out on all the death and misery?
Fair's fair, everyone should have an equal opportunity to die a lonely and painful death from double pneumonia .

No they are not, considering the majority people dying from them have a much bigger probability of dying from something else on any given day.

Just what we need, a bunch of whimpering cowards fretting about large numbers when they dont understand what large numbers are

Which part of social distancing are you struggling to understand?

So you'll stay home when you get sick and not interact with others?

Given what doctors and nurses are going through right now in hospitals - endless work hours and watching their co-workers die with the disease - I would think that only selfish pricks would put profit and "personal freedom" above medical needs right now.

Sometimes, it's not all about you.

LOL. Do you think he'll run for president in 2024? You're very funny.

p.s. What medical school did you graduate from?

Let's take an area in Italy where the virus effected the most. The number of total deaths increased by 9000 over a monthly period when compared to the average number of total deaths of the same period during the past five years. The expected number of deaths would be around 10,000 The actual number of deaths for this period in 2020 was 19000.

So due to this virus the number of total deaths doubled. This is being repeated world wide.

You're ignoring the death and social mayhem from intentionally crashing the economy. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

I'm staying home to avoid getting sick and passing it to others.
That is the point of social distancing and it is working.
Normally I'd say fill your boots, if you want to go out and risk your life help yourself, Darwinism in action. However you may pass it onto someone who is actually a benefit to the gene pool so I hope you don't get it.

Just remember on 1/26 he said the virus threat to the US was very minimal.

The virus is not "contained and disappearing." I'm sorry that the facts are inconvenient, but they remain facts. I want us to re-open to, but doing so before we have widespread testing and quarantine measures for those who test positive is murderously insane.

And you'll stay home should you get sick, sticking to your social distancing plan right?
Or should you go spread it to others?

There you go with your fancy facts and all. But, seriously, I'm getting tired of the whole "isolation worked so that means we never needed isolation in the first place" argument.

By every remotely objective, rational measure, you are wrong. This isn't normal for "respiratory virus season." Please stop pretending it is.
