For comparison, the IHME model shows 1,000 deaths a day on May 1st. I don't see any reason as of today to expect that we will drop off that quickly versus continue to plateau through the end of this month.

If I were betting, I'd wager that the next update to IHME will be closer to your current prediction of 1000 closer to Memorial Day.

I wonder what the results are when the mask has been worn for say, an hour, and the mask is moistened by breathing.
Would every exhalation still be contained in the mask?

I had read reports that they're having just as good of outcomes by simply proning patients as they are with intubation. When patients are lying on their back, their heart is putting pressure on their lungs. On the stomach, that pressure is removed.

Seems like it would be difficult to prone someone on a ventilator.

What did Canada do that the US did not do ??? What did Canada’s medical experts recommend that was superior to what our medical experts recommended which Trump followed exactly ???

There was one article or video which suggested a slightly damp mask was better. Sorry, no link....that was a few days ago, and it was only mentioned in one of several sources I saw.

Here is a snapshot from 49/50 States. The article about the virus slowing down in some states and getting ready to increase in others: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/08/coronavirus-data-some-states-slowing-new-covid-19-cases.html

Huh. I didn't want to spend a lot of time to relocate one source, but a quick search pulled up the "damp cloth". Turns out a damp cloth was used in the experiment for which I posted the video.

Now I wonder why they didn't use a dry cloth! I'm not going to carry around a misting bottle...at some point, protecting ourselves and others is too much.

I think she has very little knowledge of New Mexico.
NM has 2 Latino populations. NM once belonged to Mexico and was first settled by Spaniards. Abq and Santa Fe are Spanish settlements, 500 and some years old. The descendant call them self Spanish, not Latino or Mexican American. This group is larger than the so called Anglo and White. There are still large Ranches and Farms, or land holdings, which were given by the Spanish King. The whole Rio Grande Valley is Spanish.
The second group are immigrants from Mexico.
Neither group is known for alcoholism, but for a more easy European way how they handle wine and beer.
Not the puritan way of Anglo America, which has a serious alcoholism problem, besides obisity

All of a sudden, I am reading in many corners and hearing from known talking heads on TV mentioning that they are just not sure if those who have developed the antibodies in their bodies after resolving COVID-19 are really going to be immune against a new infection.

Hmmmm.... this is something I think a number of us have mentioned, but all of a sudden, it kind of all over the media.

I'm wondering if something is up, there.

Haha. All my relatives would find that as funny as I do. My parents were born and raised in New Mexico. I spent a lot of time in N.M. growing up, visiting grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunts, great-uncles, nieces, nephews all over New Mexico. I still have family there.

Thanks for assuming I'm ignorant. You never know what someone else knows, do you?

    ...and...

    Have a Nice Day! :)

Thanks to great advises of Stat, finally I can show you the list of...

List of Worst hit Countries (more deaths for 1 million of persons)

List of Less hit Countries (less deaths for 1 million of person, please note which one are at top...!)

Please note that San Marino, the little Switzerland that I just around the corner here, near my town, it's the worst place on Earth...

Now you know unequivocally what is the only key factor that spreads the virus worldwide...

Do you have numbers of how many tests were done, in the least affected countries?

The single biggest thing that every other country does that we can’t, is provide affordable healthcare to every suspected infected person. Those who are not getting healthcare have long remained at large, infecting everyone else. You can see it in populations of all disadvantaged peoples.

In other countries, thier infection rates can be reacted to and mitigated easier because EVERYONE has access. It’s not rocket science. universal healthcare helps battle pandemics much better then leaving the disadvantaged on their own to infect everyone around them. .

This virus has a two week incubation period in which people can infect those around them. It doesn’t matter what type of healthcare system you have. Italy, Spain, UK, Holland, Belgium, ... all have been harder that the US. And the care received in the US is superior to other countries who ration care to older patients.

Keep telling yourself that infected poor people who can’t afford healthcare won’t come into contact with you and yours. The care is only better for those who can afford it.

We are the most infected country in the world. Other countries are opening up because everyone is tracked and treated that needs it. If you can’t afford it, you won’t get tested. Only the wealthy and insured are getting long term care and tracing.

Low income people in the US receive Medicaid. And older people receive Medicare.

Covid-19 testing and treatment is free for the uninsured in the U.S. under the CARES Act.

You do know that for little bitty Islands with only a 1,000 people or so, these statistics (number per million) are just abstractions, right?
