Thank you for the confirmation that you -fully- aware of the fact you cannot demonstrate the necessary relationship between the gun laws in the countries you cite and the rates of gun-related crime you claim.
    As expected.

Here's a suggestion. Lets go into Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit and Memphis to start and take away all guns, by force if needed, from all the gang bangers and then after one year compare murder rates...

Thank you for confirming that you are fully aware you maintain a position that is not persuaded or informed by the facts.

I like numbers. Let's look at some more that actually mean something.

Here's a list of gun ownership rates by country from 2017. The United States has about twice the guns, per capita, than the second highest - Granada, with 2000 guns total and 3000 population. Average number of guns per country is around 13.2 guns per hundred people; we have nearly 10 times the average.

Here's a list of murders and murder rates by country from 2010. I know the year difference is a bit of a discrepancy but those are the years I could find for each dataset. I think most will agree that neither number is going to change in significant ways between the years so, for general interpretation, they represent reasonable numbers and can be analysed together.

I created a spreadsheet where the data from the two was combined - I do analytics for a living and know how to do it. I was going to post a screenshot but, apparently, I don't know how to do that. The data shows that countries with the lowest number of guns, per capita, have the highest murder rates per gun. There are 86 countries in the list but that would make the picture too big. You can make your own spreadsheet or take my word that the US is 83 out of 86, with only 3 murders per hundred thousand guns, proving that more guns equals less murders.

On the other end of the spectrum, countries with less than one gun per hundred people, up to those with single-digit (less than 10) guns per hundred people, have murder rates per hundred thousand guns as high as in the 600s per 100K up to the highest, South Korea, with 0.2 guns per 100 people but more than 1600 murders per 100K guns - proving that less guns does not equal less murder.

The average number of guns across all reported countries is 18.5 guns per hundred people, or about 15.4% of US gun ownership. By these numbers, the United States owns 60% of all the civilian-owned guns in the world but Americans commit only 6% of the world's murders.

The number of murders across all the reported countries in the data listed is 35.4 per 100K guns or more than 10 times the rate of the United States. The average country has 204 murders per 100K guns. Again, the United States has 3 murders per 100K guns. American guns are the safest guns in the world, far less likely to sneak out of their safe in the middle of the night and kill people than are virtually any guns anywhere else in the world.

In the list of countries, for 2010, other years may vary a bit but not significantly, the United States is 43rd in murders per capita with 42 per million residents. Of the 42 countries with more murders per capita than the United States, the average guns per 100 people is 9.3. The average murders per million, by country, is 222, or over 5 times the US murder rate. The murder rate across all of the reported countries is 65.5 per million people compared the the US rate of 42, or 50% higher than the US. So, with all those hundreds of millions of guns in the US, the US is actually far safer than the world as a whole.

All this and I haven't even touched on the effects of drugs and the war on drugs on the murder rates in the United States. If you eliminate gang violence, drug turf wars, etc., from the numbers, the risk of being murdered in the United States would likely be the lowest in the world.

My first post other than my intro.

    Looking further at the data....

    - In 68 of 98 mass shootings (69.4%) 1982-2019, deaths from handguns exceed deaths from 'asst weapons' by >203%
    - In 89 of 98 mass shootings, (94.9%) 1982-2019, deaths from handguns exceed deaths from 'assault weapons' by 110%
    - Not until the top 5% of mass shootings - 9 total shootings in 38 years - do deaths from 'assault weapons' exceed the number of deaths from handguns.
    - The top 5 of the 98 mass shootings, 1982-2019, fall into the 4th through 7th standard deviation from the norm.

And so, even though there are 17-18 million 'assault weapons' in the US, in just 9 shootings, over 38 years, does the average number of people killed with an 'assault weapon' exceed that of handguns.

    Reaction from the anti-gun left?
See! Ban them! BAN THEM NOW!!!!

Your opening claim is 100% demonstrably false, as well as, many of your other claims.

Not sure if you are correct here or not; do you have links to data? Definitely do not ban most if any firearms.

Au contraire monami the facts are that there is no correlation between guns and crime. You simply cannot compare the US and any other country.

I would rather be killed by a firearm than most other methods I can think of. So, what happens to the other 97% in england? bludgeoned to death with a tire iron or baseball bat? Stabbed repeatedly? No thanks.

Afew months ago I read a good book called Dying of Whiteness. It tells the story of how by clinging to their right wing values. white guys are literally killing themselves, and guns are a big part of it.

I see anti-gun arguments in the thread was feeble at best, does that mean you concede the debate?

2009-2018, 529 people died in vehicular homicides - 52.9 per year,
That's about 5x more than the number of people murdered each year with an 'assault weapon' in a mass shooting.
