    Everyday the ship is in port at Curacao it costs the owners money, so if they were able to leave port, they would park the ship outside the port, not inside.

    According to the Curacao Chronicle the Venezuelan Foreign Minister said the ship RCGS Rosolute violated national and international regulations and conventions in Venezuelan waters and committed a serious aggression against the Venezuelan Coast Guard vessel Naiguata.

    Those crimes are very serious and since the authorities in Curacao could care less, legal action was brought against the ship and owners until an investigation could be conducted and the case is closed.

    It's not just "the authorities in Curacao". Most of the world could care less, because the regime in Venezuela is illegitimate. Who brought the legal action? What venue did they bring it in? And who is going to conduct this investigation? Are any of those answers not "Venezuela"?

    There are international laws concerning the sea. Venezuela charged the ship with a criminal action which means the ship has to be arrested until there is an investigation and trial.

    A crime is a crime is a crime, and it doesn't matter if you or Washington likes them or not.

    @Jeannette,

    Where did they "charge the ship with a criminal action"? What court did that happen in? Was it in an "international sea court" that I was hitherto unaware of? Who has the responsibility of investigating the allegations? Are there some "sea police" that do that? Where do they hold the trial? What rights does the ship, as the defendant get? Where are those defined?

    Russia's Foreign Minister Lavrov response, when asked after the meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States, if Russia will conduct an investigation into the attempted invasion of Venezuela.

    "We and other countries provide humanitarian assistance to Venezuela, including medicine. With regard to other forms of cooperation, to answer your question on the investigation of the invasion of Venezuela by mercenaries tasked with sabotage, terrorist attack and overthrow of the legitimate president, our special services are in contact. If there is a request, based on relevant agreements for such assistance in such cases, of course it will be considered,"

    Okay I asked my family member who owned ships what the process was. He said that the country where the ship docks will arrest it. If they let it go, then when it reaches another port it will be arrested. According to the following video, the government of Curacao has detained the ship until the case is solved.

    I think Venezuela was understandably paranoid regarding the ship with the reinforced hull and overplayed its hand. The ship was in the right and Venezuela was wrong in its charges.

    That said, why do you say the regime in Venezuela is illegitimate? Their last elections were monitored by several international observers who found it well run and legit.

    From where is your claim?

    I think the case depends on whether the cruise ship was in Venezuelan waters as they claimed, or in international waters as the cruise ship captain claims. I personally suspect the cruise ship was up to no good, but it's an interesting case and I'd like to see how it ends.

    It sounds like it has already ended, a few weeks ago.
