The FBI served a search warrant on Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) Wednesday as an investigation pushes forward on whether or not the senator violated a law that prevents members of Congress from trading on insider information they learn from their work, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Federal agents seized Burr’s cellphone after they served a search warrant on the Republican at his residence in the Washington area, a law enforcement official told the Times.

    Wow.

    That escalated fast.

Another TOP Republican caught in CRIMINAL Activity...

Richard Burr, The FACE of the GOP, a Criminal...

Why do these TOP Republicans always end up getting arrested?

This is really an Irredeemable Black Eye on that hurts the Entire Party...

When THE FACE of the GOP (Burr) gets caught up in this kind of chicanery...

    Thoughts?

I am shocked they are even looking into this — usually it is just brushed under the rug.
Hopefully his penalty is more than a small fraction of what he made.

    Where's Loefflers??

I expect Burr is mostly likely guilty of insider trading here, but I also feel the Congress is in a very tricky position when it comes to their portfolios.... They get "insider" information almost every day... Gotta be hard to time their trading.

Basically, you can probably get away with a little bit here and a little bit there, but you can't go Full Monty on your portfolio at any time like he did here.

Burr is not the "Face of the GOP"..... he's not orange, nor especially jowly...

But the best thing for Burr to do here is to agree to be interviewed by the FBI, lie to them all fricking day, then await his exoneration as his case is dismissed...

Proven method of walking under the Barr DOJ....

Well, he is in Congress and I am sure someone reported him and I am sure more than just Burr sold lots of stocks knowing what was coming.

I sold a ton of stocks as well, almost at the same time as Burr. Anyone with a brain and in the financial markets with their nose to the grindstone knew what was coming, hence the massive sell offs. I moved a ton of money into treasuries where I actually made a profit. The best part is, I am buying back the same stocks I sold for almost half the price, so I am getting double the stock I had before and when the market rallies again, I will have doubled my investments. I huge windfall.

I can do this because I am not in Congress. Whatever Burr did might have been against the law, but like I said, anyone in the financial markets knew what was coming.

I was a lot smarter this time, than I was in 2008 where I just left my $$$ alone.

In Barr's DOJ, he will get an easy walk...

    Very sad...

Here we have a powerful sitting senator, in a CURRENT Criminal enterprise, and the GOP turns a blind eye...

BUT, they worry about some absurd ancient bs like "Obamagate"? :roflol:

    Puzzling...:flagus:

Nice to see the Trump Admin pressing on this and looking into it.

We know, from the Obama admin, that the dems would cover for their own...

People are allowed to have their opinions on the subject based on the information available. Both sides do it. Innocent until proven guilty only applies to the actual court process, not public opinion matters.

In any event, by stepping down as Intel Chairman, he is showing all of the textbook signs of a person who knows that are guilty and intends to resign.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could see this as a win for the American people rather than for one political party or the other?

    I agree Seth.

But, this is the age of Trump's Hyper-Partisan Politics of Division.

This is clearly a manifestation of how Trump has poisoned the Entire Political System.

Yeah. When is that 5th volume of the Senate Intelligence committee's report supporting Mueller's conclusions due again?

I guess Kelly Loeffler isn't important enough to the Dems to warrant a warrant of her own.

I'm guessing this investigation heating up right after the unmasking **** hitting the fan is just a coincidence....

Doubtful, considering unmasking isn't a unique thing and releasing a list of the top 30 Obama admins, and then saying one of them "might" have been the one to unmask Flynn is the definition of muddying the waters.

My guess is that Burr gets replaced by McConnell with someone who will suddenly shift the Intelligence Committee's view on the Mueller conclusions from the positive to the negative.

All of the at the least "requested" the unmasking so its not quite as you put it but i am used that that.

Mueller report ended up being .... nothing.....

My goodness, the FBI going after a Republican while the evil Trump is in office, what shocking revelation. Something like this would NEVER have happened to a democrat under Obama now would it. Kind of ruins your Trump is a dictator mantra.

I don't care if they go after him, if he traded on inside info then screw him, however, is the FBI looking at Pelosi or Feinstein as well? Probably not.

No it didn't. It ended up being a lot. Multiple convictions of Admin associates, the confirmation of Russia's interference, etc..

Well, requested, or simply were in a position to see the unmasked details through their positions. It seems that this "smoking gun" is simply a crapshoot of revealing a giant list of names with zero confirmation any of them actually leaked it.

Usually, actual investigators don't do that because it muddies the waters and potentially creates allegations against innocent individuals who performed legal actions that were consistent with NSA standards.

Flynn did a plea deal when they knew he did nothing wrong.
Stone got charged for a "lie" about public knowledge
Manafort got recharged for crimes and this time was found guilty ( had nothing to do with Trump or "collusion"

They "confirmed" something we all know.. Russia and before that the USSR meddled to one point or another.. Ground breaking news! /facepalm

Are you saying a DNI can not confirm who requested someone be unmasked?

Perhaps you should stick to Canada buddy for all your time here you seem to not know much on the topic.

Maybe Trump can get Barr to drop this case too. The fact that no Republican has called for Burr to resign is endemic of their moral compass.

Bob is another example of someone targeted by the Obama DOJ for political reasons. Bob came out strongly against Obama's Iran "deal" and for that he was prosecuted by the Obama DOJ.....thankfully he was exonerated from the bogus charges....much like Flynn, Chris Christie and Bob McDonnell.

Glad you are seeing the pattern of Obama weaponization of the Executive branch
