The reason the Democrats resist the voter ID is it would prevent illegals from voting. If we could deport every single illegal, the Democrats would never win another election. With the Corona crisis illegals have become scarce, that is why the Dems are hot to get mail in voting and vote harvesting passed, we can't let that happen.

I don’t believe we need voter ID as voter fraud is not the issue some have been led to believe it is.

I do believe in voter ID. But I oppose what they call "strict voter ID" because its purpose, as you stated is not to defend against voter fraud.

    BUT

If those demanding strict voter ID want to stand their ground then why not have the government foot the cost of burdening the voter. If it's just about identifying the voter a college ID or work ID should suffice. They have the name and a photo. But it never is.

The bar code on the mail-in ballot. Yeah. Those ballots are paper too.

Plus, time is money. We need to stop concocting ways to waste it.

Because evcery state requires a legal ID to register and to vote! PLEASE name one place in this country where a person can register or vote without an ID.

What stops me from getting the names and address from obituaries and then saying I’m that person and voting?

I guess the same reason that is currently isn’t much of an issue.

When I go to the bank to cash out a bank account and give them your name and address, why isnt that enough?

Ps, in my office I have the names and addresses of at least 6500 people.

Because we know, based on all the research, that voter fraud is infinitesimal. But by all means waste your time believing it’s such a big issue.

You’re comparing someone’s bank account to casting a vote. Yeah...that’s equivalent. SMFH.

Well jeez, if no identification was required at banks, just a name and address, there wouldnt be any banking fraud would there?

After all, an ID was required to open the account, that's good enough for govt work.

Again...beyond silly you think ones bank account and one casting a vote are equivalent.

We can each have an opinion. It's ok if yours is wrong.

I like showing my ID to the poll worker, i like that they verify the signature. I'd do the thumbprint if they asked.

This seems a pretty logical one to me

"What? Again...how is some random person who supposedly walks in to vote illegally going to know the name and address of someone on the list? Oh and also know that the person they are pretending to be hasn’t already been crossed off the list as having voted?" Post 14

All voters everywhere have to be REGISTERED to vote. Registration involves a pretty stringent ID check by the Board of Election Supervisors, so anybody who is registered has ALREADY presented ID.

I was an Election Judge one time. The system is pretty foolproof unless you are proposing that lots of people will take a substantial risk of a heavy fine and jail time to vote illegally one time. Most places that want voter ID want picture IDs and most people who don't drive, like my sainted mother, don't have one nor any real way of getting any.

Now you want to disenfranchise old people, isn't trying to kill them with the Covid virus enough?

Good to know. But hey, go ahead and leave that ID home from now on, dont bring it anywhere, let me know how that works out.

I used mine on Saturday, apparantly Lowes loves blind followers like me too.

With voter ID we can just assure it is not an issue.

It is. I've been doing that for 45 years. No one can use my vote without trying to sign my name. That has never happened. Registration is enough to satisfy ID requirements.

This whole "ID" thing is simply Republicans trying to keep LEGAL voters from voting.

It could easily become an issue. Why not insure it doesn't? Unless the dems are planning on cheating and don't want their plans ruined. There is zero reason not to do this. And even if it is just a miniscule problem right now, It should not be happening at all. There is no reason not to, and "it's not a problem" is not a good reason not to do it. In this day and age, having confidence in the integrity of the vote is incredibly important. Anything that can stop people from being able to say the vote was rigged should be implemented.
