No they didn’t. Which is why none of you were willing to challenge my argument earlier.

The south had no need to go to war to save slavery. They simply needed to sign the Corwin amendment.

I agree but that isn't what the flag represents.

Yes they did but that isn't the purpose of the flag.

History tells us we are correct. You are not.

To many people, that is exactly what it represents.
Maybe not to many flying them. But public perception is reality.

No. Propaganda tells you that you’re correct. History slaps you in the face with reality letting you know you’re wrong. Whether you’re honest enough to acknowledge it or not is really of no consequence.

Perception is perception. It doesn't substitute for fact.

That’s what happens when your position is based entirely upon propaganda.

The man who they brought along to video the shooting, has now also been charged with murder.

They were already at war so the “compromise” amendment no longer served a purpose.

You’re right in a sense that the South didn’t need to go to war to save slavery (where it existed) because there wasn’t an appetite to interfere with those states.

There were many compromise attempts, Missouri, Nebraska-Kansas, Adams, Seward, Corwin, Corwin adapting Seward or the Corwin Amendment aka the first “13th Amendment”.

All of the latter attempts were functionally about the power of the states to determine their course—on slavery.

To me, the “constitutional” argument here is utilized similar to “state’s rights” arguments. To throw cover to defending the indefensible.
