    Yes it bloody is/was.

Unfortunately the response to the virus in capitalist democracies has been deeply problematic, insofar as capitalist democracies have created self-indulgent societies inclined to dislike being told what to do. Other parts of the world are handling it better, but either way it's still the virus.

This recession won't last as long because we won’t do what that idiot FDR did.

I think the handling of the response was based in politics as in who stayed open and who was forced to close.

Sounds like certain people want a depression.

Also an economic depression is a sustained longterm downturn. It's been 3 months.

Trump has had us on course for the Recession\Depression long before the virus, Ironically the virus my have pushed it back a year or two

depends how much Stimulus Republicans allows for the people, if they block future help for the people, it happens sooner

Trump released federal guidelines on who was to close, so businesses even in states that official stayed open, the businesses closed, cause of the liability of defying the Trump federal guidelines

the debt was rising, the economy was doing so poorly that the fed was dumping billions into the economy and the interest rate was low, Trump would not support raising the min wage, gave the corps mega tax cuts, refused to address excessive foreign outsourcing, and he was dividing America making it "Trump First", rather then America First

The debt rose much faster under Obama prior to this epidemic, the economy was doing incredible. Raising the minimum wage isn’t a requirement to keep the economy growing or to stop a recession...that is just nonsense lol. He was the only one addressing foreign outsourcing, democrats just put on the facade of doing so lol. He has railed against that for years.

    He made it America first.

You have failed to support your false claim.

And dems put their hate of Trump first, showing little interest in stopping the pandemic, or giving hope to those who need it. Just bashing the president even when he has done such a good job that never Trumpers have to pony up and admit it.

You are exactly right, and I wish Pollicy would jump in here as he is the only conservative on this board that actually understands the economy, and just how flimsy it really was even before COVID-19. Why, indeed, are interest rates so low while unemployment was at an all time low? Why are the feds pumping money into an economy that we were told was so great? It was a house of cards, and it was going to crash and burn with, or without COVID-19. Trump knew this. He just hoped he could put the crash off until after November. Well, that plan is in the crapper now...

The debt was rising as nearly the same rate it had been rising for the last decade and actually at a lower percentage than previously. Although the debt is bad that wouldnt not of been a major contributing factor.

The feds have been pumping billions in a every month since 08 basically. Quantitative easing has been being done for quite some time now and at one point the feds were lowering their position.

Raising the minimum wage would most likely hurt the economy. Depending on how it was raised it would most likely have a negative effect if it were raised to 15 vs something around 8-10

Everyone got a tax cut more or less. I'm not a mega Corp and I recieved a tax cut. Let's make this clear that doesnt itemize got a tax cut if they are in normal taxes.

He has divided america because the left wants to be divided. They have protested and protested time and time again. If a democrat were doing what hes doing it would be fine and dandy to the majority of them. Just like the republicans that cant see past party lines.

"The debt was rising as nearly the same rate it had been rising for the last decade"

but then you admit the economy was not the greatest it has ever been as Trump was saying.... with that I agree

Trump did nothing to change the economy, he was just riding the wave and claiming credit, was really the low interest rates and the billions the fed was dumping into it that was keeping it afloat

if the economy was so great, would not of needed those things

the best time to have raised the min wage would of been on the same bill giving corps mega tax cuts, but Trump doesn't think that far ahead

Trump runs the government like a game of checkers, and he is losing

Incorrect, the dems are the dividers. You can blame Trump for your behavior all you want but you are wrong.

The economy was absolutely the greatest it’s ever been. He spent less that Obama during his first four years prior to the epidemic. He wasn’t riding a wave, he created it. Obama’s numbers are fake, that’s why unemployment went down at the same time as his labor force participation rate.
    He did a great job

I don't agree. The great depression was cause by a sick economy. this 'depression' is caused only by a virus, and if it passes quick enough, the economy could bounce back a lot quicker.
