What the US and the UK were in 1945 is very different than what it is today. After the Nuremberg trials, the honeymoon ended very quickly for liberty and justice for all.

The U.S. is basically the same as it was in 1945. The only difference is our left wing has grown to hate America. Very sad.

The only difference is that even though we have been at war for decades since 1945, our rotten government has not done its constitutional duty, as Congress has not declared war in accordance with the Constitution since 1941.

And with the AUMF almost 20 years ago, Congress has abdicated its responsibility and enabled the Unitary Executive.

The right loves America ... the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, our traditional values, etc. We believe in American exceptionalism.

Sadly, we're alone. We don't want to "fundamentally transform" America (Obama's words).

Simply not True. Red Establishment hates the founding principles - as per the DOI, and the principle of Republicanism.

How many examples would you like ? .. you can start by giving an example on the Blue side.

Obama said he hated the Constitution. He said it didn’t give enough power to the federal government to do the things he wanted to do to the people.

No surprise there - The left hates the founding principles as much as the right does. Your problem - is that you only see one side...and have a big log in your eye ... as Per Matt 7.

Second - you don't understand how the left disrespects the founding principle - and the principles of Classical liberalism/Republicanism - because you don't understand these principles that well.

If you want a good argument w/r to the Blue Establishment hating the founding principles - I can go 10x better than your argument.

First off - we need to distinguish between the "Constitution" and the founding principles. the latter being the rules by which law and the constitution is supposed to be interpreted.

That Obama actually stated - "Gov't needs more power" - at least he is honest. What does this say about Red Establishment - who hates the founding principles just as much - but claims otherwise.

Even more sadly, many on the right and on the left cannot discern between country and government.

    Yes.

As we've seen in watching the Deep State exposed, the government is distinct from the country.

Mark Twain knew it in the last century. I'm a big fan of his.

"Patriotism means supporting your country all the time, and its government only when it deserves it."

Even when it comes to the most gruesome acts of terrorism against civilians, the US and Israel have a record that should put them to shame. Too bad, they control most of the media mouthpieces that sensationalize some issues and ignore others. Here is one example and I will just post what I posted elsewhere about it:
    --------------------
Last night I watched an Iranian movie dealing with one of the most notorious terrorists, Abdolmalek Rigi, called: When the Moon Was Full. See HERE Hollywood Reporter's Review of the Movie.

The movie, directed by an Iranian female director, was riveting and very disturbing. In part, because it tells a true story, including how a young Iranian man was beheaded on live television (by a Saudi channel) with his mom called to watch her son supposedly giving an interview! The group that carried these dastardly deeds, an Al Queda affiliated group operating near the Iran/Pakistan border from inside Pakistan, was supported by the US and Israel (the latter, clearly and undeniably). The leader of the group was arrested by Iran finally, and then executed for his numerous crimes, but he spilled all the beans about US involvement and assistance to his group during this custody. Even if you ignore his comments while in custody, there was a lot of evidence that pointed to the same thing.

You can read below from the Wikipedia site (and references) on US/Israel support for this groups:

George Bush said pretty much the same thing. Then he and Cheney and the Neocons brought us the Unitary Executive.

Barack is an ungrateful bastard not thanking Bush for the UE.

You are not 'supposed to' care or otherwise not care. It is the piece of news most relevant to the topic of this thread.

Leaving aside the many other cultural and political changes that took place along the way of America of America becoming an imperial power since then, in 1945, the US was true giant in many things. Today, it is not that giant by any means. It controls the world's money supply, and has the world's strongest military, but it produces little that is worthwhile for a country that started off with such a huge advantage.

Watch this video carefully: it tracks the most advanced countries in the world in terms of industrial designs and applications. The video starts in 1981, where Japan and South Korea had already begun to move ahead of the US. But continue watching: you will see how the world is changing. No where as clearly as if you look carefully at Iran: coming from no where, you will see it make the top 20 in the chart -- and then finish among the top 5, behind only China, South Korea, USA and Japan.

And to those like @Creasy Tvedt and @TOG 6 who say that Venezuela's problems in learning to cope with the US pressures against it are a testament to socialism, what does say about having an Islamic theocracy then? :)

iran is a state sponsor of terrorism and should not deliver oil in America's backyard.

those tankers must be seized by US military.

Two of them are unloading the fuel they carried -- and the third one is in Venezuela's waters already. The other 2 will soon join them.

And with what legal legitimacy please?

Just because the United States calls Iran a sponsor of terrorism doesn't mean that it really is!
The problem is that, on the one hand, the term "terrorist" has been raped to such an extent that it is insignificant and irrelevant ... simply because it has become fashionable to demonize unpleasant opponents by the term (others than the US do the same). .. and on the other hand, as an American, I would be very careful with the term, because you Americans have often enough supported terrorists by your own, or you have intense economic relationships with countries which, in the eyes of many, also support terrorism ... i.e. Saudi Arabia, which e.g. proven to support Al Nusra financially in Syria and Al Nusra is an ally of al Qaeda ... someone you Americans call a terrorist for a good and well-known reason, isn't it?

In other words and with a saying in my country:

"If you sit in a glass house, you shouldn't throw stones at others outside, otherwise you will harm yourself!"

And that someone like Iran is doing something in your back garden that you don't like ... um ... sorry, but it's your own fault.
Since the end of the Cold War, you have been dancing in many back gardens of others, and you have given a damn whether they like it.

I would say "quid pro quo" ... if you can and think you can, then everyone else has the same "right" to do it with you!

And under international law you have no right to do anything here ... even if there are many fools in the USA who think that international law is only valid for everyone else, but only for the USA if the USA likes it.

At least you're admitting that the Iranians are intent on getting their hands on nuclear weapons. That's refreshing.

The "nuclear energy" smokescreen is just tiresome and ridiculous.
