Is this fair game? With every bullshit that's been thrown at Trump by the democrats and media what obligation is he under that he would have to be fair?

nothing, not a thing. what they've done they've done for all americans and i say this even though i'm no republican banner waver. while the democrats have been claiming to fight diligently for this victim class and that, the republicans (especially trump) have simply worked to improve the nation for everyone and to a certain extent it has worked. the democrats have certainly attracted race-baiters, radical gay activists and third wave feminists, but these are people of low moral character, malcontents who feel that their cause is more important than the health of the nation as a whole.

what i've noticed over the years is that those black americans who chose the republican party didn't really see race as a dividing factor. they were merely part of that machine and they prospered just as any other american would. can you say the same of black democrats? we see them stoking the fires of divisiveness at every turn, playing every race card in the deck and inventing new ones when they start to run dry.

You are correct that the slow correction in unemployment started during the Obama Administration, as did the spike in unemployment occur during his first couple of years. When Obama ok'd the 8 trillion dollar big bank bailout early in his first term (a problem he did largely inherit from Bush...but may not have managed well), unemployment skyrocketed. It took Obama nearly his entire first term for housing markets and jobs to settle back out, though I can't recall any specific policy he put in place versus a natural market correction. Perhaps you know what specifically Obama did for jobs versus just letting the market work itself out. The bank stimulus helped the banks, not the people hurt by the debt they couldn't pay.

Anyway, at worst black unemployment was as high as 17% and white unemployment hit around 7%, a 10% spread (more than double). The economy has improved from there.

When Obama left office, white unemployment had dropped (3.5%) to 3.5% and black unemployment had dropped (10%) to 7%.

If you look at Trump taking office, you can point to specific actions Trump has taken which have narrowed the unemployment gap to a mere 3.3% Black and Hispanic unemployment rates have continued to fall faster than unemployment rates among whites (and Asians), which flattened out more. The gap in unemployment is still double, but it's the smallest gap it has ever been, and unemployment numbers were the lowest they have ever been. Better than they were when Bush left office and Obama got the brunt of the "spike" because of his bank bailout.

Trump programs to add working-class jobs while middle- and upper-middle wage jobs have remained fairly steady include the trade tariffs with China, which have caused American corporations to return to this country (or not leave for China/India) and provide jobs for our citizens, and the corporate tax breaks the first year gave corporations extra assets to hire more people and expand operations here in the U.S. Plus, there are fewer illegal migrants coming in and working for cash under the table and undercutting legal citizens out of work.

We are very likely to have an economy worse than the Great Depression due to the coronavirus. I trust Trump's plans to continue to keep jobs here at home. I trust Joe Biden to start giving preferential deals to China and India, raise corporate taxes (which creates more job layoffs), and start providing companies with cheap migrant labor (which takes from legal working-class). Both Democrats and Republicans, politicians, have done that to America for a long time.

I believe the recovery will go fast under Trump, who thinks like a businessman, than under Biden, who represents the same-old establishment elite politician, the kind which have stripped U.S. job opportunities away for more than 2 decades now.

You believe that, I don't. Republicans have done nothing, sorry Republicans have shown if you ain't white you ain't right.

I see those black folks they want to be accepted by the very folks who despise them.

Over the past 50yrs Democrats can definitely show that they have done more for people of color than republicans ever thought of.

    Depends where that 5+% live.
You underestimate how accustomed to awkward allies black people have become, and they can differentiate between awkward allies and virulent racists

Because they are tired of giving their votes away to politicians for 50-60 years and getting nothing for their loyalty? Just a guess.

Trump is not a politician and he's been the best hope to provide real change for the better for the working and middle class of America that we've seen in decades.

But, why not contact someone at Black Voices for America, or the Young Black Conservative Leaders who are working with the White House to tell them how the administration can help their communities.

When is the last time a politician actually invited people from the black community to the White House annually. Normal black people from everyday life. Someone at the White House is finally given them a real voice and a platform.

Why not ask them? 1.3 million votes. Hope and optimism.

Your own chart proves this trend started long before Trump took office, thank God he hasn't mucked it up.

Yes, it does. I haven't voted for a Democrat or Republican since 2004, and I almost stayed home that year, so sick of the political elites taking advantage of the people. Voted a write-in in 2008, Libertarian in 2012, and Independent in 2016. When the bad outweighs the good, there are always more than 2 choices.

I know. I was agreeing with your point that the correction started before Trump entered office. It also shows what Trump says, that Black and Hispanic unemployment numbers are the best they've been in decades. That "gap" between black and white unemployment has narrowed significantly.

Things are about to get very bad though. Choose carefully before going back to establishment elites out of habit, thinking they're going to help us.

Isn't that a banned word in this group or is it O.K. to use and can everyone use the word as they see fit?

I think that nicely sums up your position, explains a lot.

So basically Biden is saying that one must be a house negro in order to support Trump, and that he prefers the field negro.

Yes, I am. I didn't trust him as far as I could throw him in 2016, but wasn't going to vote for Hillary and her endless-war crimes, toppling leaders in other countries while working for Obama, and leaving those citizens in worse poverty and living conditions than they had under their dictators.

Trump is a narcissist and a New York Queens-style street fighter and bully. I didn't like that. Also, I would have preferred a uniter, after Obama so severely divided the country along partisan lines.

    But....

Ignoring his style and divisive personality, I've watched what he has done for the people of this country and the good results he has had with the economy. He has lifted people up, despite being attacked and counter-attacked daily for his very obvious flaws. His actions and results outweigh his downside, and speak louder than words.

He earned my vote. After Trump, this country will very likely slide back into the same old D & R political routine of hollowing out the middle-class and widening the gap between the elites and us lowly peons.

Are you suggesting that the 1.3 million blacks who voted for Trump "ain't black"? They lost their black cards when the voted for a populist 3rd party president?

Sounds like you're an establishment Biden man through and through. Everyone should vote their conscience.

I think he's talking about Malcolm X. Putting the field negro back on the plantation (the way that Democrats keep them on the government plantation with welfare and empty promises).

Elected Democrats and Republicans only pretend to be different to put on a show for the voters. If they had done their jobs to protect the citizens of America all along, we wouldn't be so divided today.

The real battle, as I see it, is we the people versus a spoiled elite and powerful elected bureaucracy. They take money out of our paychecks and spread it all over the world and into their own pockets. It certainly does not come back to us.

But as long as the political elites keep conning people into believing that we are divided amongst the ourselves, the citizenry, they can keep playing their elitist battle on the political Monopoly board and keep stealing our money, hopes, and dreams.

    Trump is different.
