A DEFAULT IN DEMOCRATIC FAIRNESS Politics is ALWAYS interpretive. Mine is likely more "economic" in nature than yours. Which is how politicians manipulate their discourses to attract a particular kind of voter. America's default in Democratic Fairness happened historically at a very young age. It occurred because some silly men thought they were "free" to manipulate laws to their own ends. This was particularly the case in the South in the 17th and 18th centuries. When the south lived principally upon two commodities: Tobacco and Cotton. And the Southern-rich wanted to protect those two agricultural-incomes upon which they lived Very, Very Comfortably - but dependent upon slave-labor. Which did not go down well with the Northern states that were coping with a tidal-wave of workers entering from Europe. (Which then had not much slave-labor.) America's New Rich was in the making. And it has never stopped but has accelerated as America passed from the Agricultural Age to the Industrial Age in the latter half of the 19th century. (Which it has since left behind for the Information Age that today produces both the most employment and National Wealth.)
