I just read a cite where Ed Sullivan was talked about.
His show lasted over 4 decades { over 22 years } and made
stars of many for their big break to be on The Ed Sullivan Show.
From Elvis to the Beatles,to The Rolling Stones and yes ... The Doors.
However in the case of the Doors things got sticky.
Ed wanted some of the lyrics to their hit song - Light My Fire - to
be changed. They were not very Family Friendly. The Doors agreed.
However once they got on stage and did their - Light My Fire -
number ... Not a word was changed. For this Ed had them Banned for Life.
    Ain't that worth Knowin'.
    Don't forget today at - Four O'clock - { 1962 } another creepy Twilight Zone
episode.Because at Four O'clock you could be among those who end being
2 foot tall. That is the curse that Oliver Crangle decided was fitting for those
    he deemed unfit for humanity.
I saw a movie with Theodore Bikel and decided I need to watch his
one Twilight Zone episode.Because it's a perfectly cast and written example
of the greatness of That TV series.
Rod Serling was of course a big smoker.Used to have cig commercials
inbetween scenes.I can't think of the one brand he pushed/touted.
It wasn't Kent or Tarryton. He did Chesterfield ads.
What did he smoke. How about Oasis brand.

The Twilight Zone was good but lately we have been enjoying the "campy" shows like the old Batman with Adam West and the old Lone Ranger shows with Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels. Just saw one where the smoke signals looked like someone puffing on a cigar. And on Batman everything seemed to be labeled..... and who can forget Julie Newmar.

The best is how they twisted the meanings of the American language in The Beverly Hillbillies. Their writers were geniuses.

The only surviving cast member is Jethro. Max Baer Jr's father was a World Heavyweight Boxing Champion. He lost to Joe Louis in 1935. Joe Louis and Jack Dempsey were 2 of his pall bearers in 1959.

Max senior was not the villain that the Movie Cinderella Man made him out to be. I love th Beverly Hillbillies and let's not forget Oliver Wendell Douglass on Green Acres. The man with the suit for stump pulling, one for planting, etc. Also Arnold Ziffle. I love that stuff.

Something I never knew. Casey Kasem was the voice for shaggy on the original scooby-doo cartoon.

Uh oh. I feel an old fogie (autospell changes it to "rogue') attack coming on.

Sitcoms and/or movies and/or music suck these days. Everything has to be so pc, there's no room for innovation. Some new sitcoms are basically like the Honeymooners, only 2 neighbors are gay or biracial or transgender or green plaid.

Gunsmoke the very best tv western. Matt Dillon was the best tv Marshall ever. When I see other so-called hero's I tell my wife. "He might be good but he ain't no Matt Dillon". But I do wonder how many times a person can be shot in the shoulder and still have use of his arm.

Good job getting her out on the firing line. More women need to be well versed in the ability to bust a cap in someone’s ass if need be.

She's only been shooting for 2-3 years, but she carries always and does pretty well with it.

My wife has carried for many years as well. A Ruger SP-101 snub in .357 magnum. I picked her up a ruger alaskan in .480 ruger and she carries that while out on our rural property. We have moose, bear, and wolves. I need to develop a reload for it soon as 375 grain buffalo bore runs about $70-$75 bucks for a box of 20. Hard to get much practice when a 6 shot revolver costs damn near $25 just to load it once.

I have tried to get at least one season of a fine TV show from the
    50s'.That being ... Sky King - { 1952-59 } starring Kirby Grant and
Gloria Winters { a hottie in her cowgirl outfit }.The Plane is a nice
single engine type very popular and the launch pad is dry Arizona.
There are like a half dozen shows available and some on YouTube.
But that's it.I have a few seasons of another good 50's TV series
    - Adventures of Superman - with George Reeves and Noel Neill.
Plus of course Jimmy Olson the Kid reporter.
I would like to get some other TV series like :
    - The Life of Riley - { 1953-58 }
