First, let me start by saying I wish no ill will on Biden or Trump. This is not a thread dedicated to such and I condemn anyone that wishes ill will on them or theirs.

But both are not exactly spring chickens. The possibility that they could die is very real at their age. Trump due to his obesity, Biden due to his mental decline combined with their age does not exactly spell long life.

So...what happens if one of them were to die 2 weeks before November 3rd? What do you think should happen? Will their respective VP nominations automatically get the Presidential pick from their respective parties? How would that work considering each has to have a certain number of support among each State to be put on the ballot for President? VP's don't have that as far as I know. Though I admit I may be ignorant on that. Anyways, each state would have to make up entirely new ballots and any early voting ballot would have to be considered null and void since you can't exactly vote a dead man into the POTUS chair.

    Thoughts?

Oh, I thought you were going to talk about Trump and Biden teaming up to be on the same ballot. LOL, can you imagine that???

Anyway, I think there should be a whole new election or a draft of someone, anyone, for both parties. In the meantime, the house of representatives can be President for the interim. Acting President Pelosi. LOL, can you imagine???

So if one of them dies then scratch the entire election season and start anew with (in this case) Pelosi as interim President.

Sounds like a possible scenario. What do you think will actually happen?

Would it matter if we elected a dead President ... probably get about the same results as a live one.

22nd Amendment, section 3. describes what happens after the election. It also has this, "If a president shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the president elect shall have failed to qualify, then the vice president elect shall act as president until a president shall have qualified and the congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a president elect nor a vice president elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as president or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected and such person shall act accordingly until a president or vice president shall have qualified."

If I read this right, that's a mighty big if. The election could go on with who ever is one or the other's VP becoming president. If something happened to Trump, that would mean Pence would become president or Biden's VP choice on January 21st. Now if the election was postponed, the term of the president expires, congress then could select someone to fill in as president until an election is held qualifying someone as the next president.

It all comes down to current law passed by congress. Which brings me to this: "If a candidate dies before the general election but after they've secured the nomination, it's a relatively simple fix: The deceased candidate's party picks a replacement (who may or may not be the vice presidential candidate from the former ticket), and that replacement is on the ballot for Election Day. (Robert F. Kennedy had not secured the Democratic nomination when he was assassinated in 1968.)

There may be more in the link above as I just skimmed it.

The DNC and/or RNC delegates would choose the nominee at the convention. If the convention had already been held, they would reconvene a new meeting to decide on a nominee and take a new vote.

The party's are private non-profit companies, and regardless whether we feel like we get a choice, we only have a choice when they write the primary/caucus rules which give people a voting choice of nominee.

I don't wish any ill will toward them either, but the chances of either of them having a VP that is worse than they are is very low, so let's just say I don't see the age of either as a drawback. Neither is, or is likely to be, in a McCain/Palin scenario where the VP would be a drastic negative change in quality.

Is he still alive A.J. ? Last I looked, he looked, dead already. I've seen skeletons that had more life than him.

No. Were Trump to die in office, Pence would become President and serve the remainder of his term.

In 2024 when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is elected POTUS having just turned the age of 35 on Oct
13/24, and Pelosi, Trump, Biden, and Mitch are probably dead, the world can celebrate the Green New Deal and money trees in everyone’s yard and unicorns and rainbow umbrellas and brain chipped and numbered trans humans living in peace and harmony

Sure with MMT! (Magic Money Theory!)

NEW SOCIALIST “IT GIRL” CONTINUES TO WITHHOLD DIVIDENDS: AOC owes $2,000 in unpaid taxes from failed business venture.

That’s highly unpatriotic, Joe Biden tells me.

Prediction saved! Thank you. I love these guarantees. Just like the ones you made for the 2016 election. Really shows a pattern for the left wing party.

Nobody Can PROVE Me Wrong Until after the votes are counted on Nov. 3rd.

Maybe, I should double down on Bat Boy's 3rd Party?

Excuse us for not taking you seriously after your "sure thing" threads from 2016. Now you're repeating the same thing. It's quite humorous.

A few things are different than in 2016. Trump now has a record to defend now. And beyond his merry band of cultists most people according to the polls don't want him. I know the polls are always wrong, but......

I see you're new here. I won't dive down that rabbit hole of left wing predictions (it's not good lol).

    Welcome.
