Instead of pretending, let's wait 2 more weeks for the virus to incubate, and then let's see what actually happens.

We are not seeing any evidence of COVID-19 herd immunity increase. The waves are still very high with reinfection rates as well.

    • Though the United States overall is experiencing one of the worst coronavirus outbreaks in the world, beliefs about how it should be handled are still somewhat split by party.
    • As Democrats typically call for caution, many Republicans urge a return to work.
    • According to an analysis by the New York Times, that divide is at least partially explained by a real discrepancy: Democratic states have been hit hardest by viral spread and deaths.

We need a less lethal mutation.

This virus takes out the sick and the old.

Gets rid of the dross. Which ccosts money.

    A pruning.

Across the United States, the coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated a partisan rift.
On the left, many have advocated caution about easing public-health measures too soon. On the right, there are growing calls for the economy to reopen, allowing workers to return to their jobs.
An analysis by the New York Times finds that this political divide may be explained, in part, by concrete facts about how the coronavirus is impacting blue and red regions: In Democratic states, the virus is deadliest and most widespread.
The counties that President Donald Trump won in 2016 have experienced a disproportionately low viral impact, the Times found. Although 45% of Americans live in those counties, they've seen just 27% of coronavirus infections and 21% of the deaths.
In April, polling showed that both Democrats and Republicans largely supported extensive lockdown measures, even if they disagreed on how far they should go. But there is some evidence that the unity has splintered.

It's already happening. The fire of Covid has mostly burned out. They will never say that on TV, but it's happening. Herd immunity is a bigger factor than they will ever admit.

Infections are growing along with deaths. Hardly burned out.

    You are optimistic!

    This virus may be surprising.

Just a few days ago you told everyone your brother died from the virus at 52 years old and now you write the above.

America has survuved the first Coronavirus wave. If there will be a second wave of the Coronavirus, How will we be able to handle it? Will there be a stricter Quarantine where we will have a manditory stay at home order and wear the face masks a manditory order? These will remain to be seen. I just hope we have learned from this first wave and know what to do if and when the second wave comes and when it does come.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday announced that hair salons and barbershops may reopen Wednesday if they provide masks for customers and employees to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Under the new guidelines, counties that follow the criteria outlined by the California Department of Public Health may “move further ahead in Stage 2 of the resilience roadmap.”

In Stage 2 of the state’s long-term plan to reopen, retail, manufacture, office workplaces, limited personal services, outdoor museums, childcare and essential businesses can open with modifications in place.

"We’re making progress, we’re moving forward. We’re not looking back, but we are walking into the unknown, the untested... and we have to be guided by the data that brought us back to this place," Newsom said during a Tuesday briefing.

Just a mental exercise with a nasty result. I'm not saying this is likely. But it did strike me that as far as we know so far, it's possible.

I sure hope that immunity to Covid 19 is long term. I was thinking how this could be really bad if we lose immunity quickly, as with other Corona viruses like the common cold.

This virus appears to do damage. People who had it are showing signs of long-term health consequences. This could mean that if they get it again, they will be more vulnerable to its effects because of the damage done the first time. So it could become a recurring illness like a cold, that gets worse and worse each time you get it, until it finally kills you.

    Eeeesh! That's an ugly thought!

Infections are way ahead of deaths. Once infected, more than 98% of people will survive.

The infections "in the record book" if you know what I mean, are much less than those not in the record books. Many people became infected, did not seek medical care, suffered for a week and got over it with acquired immunity. Many people, apparently, had no symptoms at all, like the Mayor of Miami.

There is no evidence for herd immunity having an effect. And you are no immunologist. The CDC just released a report stating that about 30% of the population may have already been exposed. That isn't nearly enough.

We don't even know if you are immune once you've had it yet. There are multiple claims of people getting it twice.

Dont be creating crackpot conspiracy theories based on whatever random and whimsical thought passes through your head.

BC quarantines anyone coming into the province for two weeks, save for truckers, pilots, train crews, and essential workers like doctors, nurses. If you have a plan of how you will quarantine that the Ministry of Health approves, you can proceed directly to that place and this nice woman, the Provincial Health Officer ...

    D1166A84-9B4C-4EF6-BB9C-E024DE2E664E.jpeg
    Dr. Bonnie Henry

... says that official will be around "to make sure you have everything you need." Penalty for violating the quarantine? $750,000 and a year in jail. I hope BC isn't undermined by the spotty performance of provincial governments in Central Canada, Ontario and Quebec.

The federal government is doing the right thing for the economy. Ontario and Quebec are doing a better job of late. Nursing home scandals in those provinces around COVIC-19 are sobering.

Wait a minute. Do you really think the first wave has ended? Really?

Almost 1,300 Americans have died today alone.

I think you can only write in past-tense when the event really is over with, nöööö

How many old folks get COVID-19 and their death is attributed to something else?

There can be no doubt that C19 deaths are being somewhat underreported. This also happened during the 1918-1919 pandemic.
