Two problems I see in this.. one is that people have a tendency to worship an artifact like this instead of God, AND regardless of whether or not this is the Arc.. It will never convince non-believers, they didn't believe when God Incarnate, Jesus of Nazarene, waS STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM, most of His closest Disciples didn't understand who HE was until the Pentecost!
The Muslims, altho' they decry idol worship still worship a meteor.. the Rock, which was worshipped by those people long before Islam.

With no witnesses to support the story, one wonders at the faith people put in Islam, Church of L. S., etc.
Christianity grew for hundreds of years without imposing itself by violence. People were obviously experiencing something in their lives.
This is the basis of any real faith; personal revelation. A religion that teaches that revelation is finished, that hearsay must be accepted as absolute authority, works against the spirit and mind of humanity

Unbelievable but some Christians are good at pointing the finger but choose to ignore what horrible violence has been done in the name of their god.

Once a person's mind set changes, and they open up to an acceptance of God, rather than keeping it closed with a denial of God, the Holy Spirit starts working their hearts. A person's thoughts and reasoning will start changing through inner and outer revelations - depending on their traditions in some cases.

Like everything else, there is a growth process, yet the minute a person's heart changes and they start to repent, they are considered saints - even if it's right before they die and haven't had a chance to grow more fully in the faith. They can be murderers it doesn't matter. I guess they grow further after they die. Repentance, and the recognition of one's moral and spiritual limitations I think if the key.

Glorified and canonized saints in contrast, are those who have matured more fully, and are able to live within the experience of God while still on earth - while in contrast, theologians are only able to speak of God.

As for Islam, I recall reading that an Imam/Mufti in Egypt said on TV that if converting was not considered a capital crime in Islam, then it would have ceased to exist. The surprising thing is that he was proud that Islam had to be imposed on people, and saw Islam as being superior because of it. In a way that would be more in tune with the way God presented Himself in the OT.

Yet with the advent of Christ we were given a fuller revelation of God, not so much as a strict Father that expects obedience, but as a loving Father, that's willing to die for His children. So Mohamed had gone backwards to a lesser revelation of God. This is why Pope Benedict XVI quoted the Byzantine Emperor as saying that Islam added nothing to the revelation of God given to us by Christ. The Muslims of course freaked at it, and took it as an insult. So much for logic and reasoning.

As for conversion being a capital offense, that would be more in tune with nationalism and an exaltation of oneself - since it denotes pride, which is a sin in Christianity.

    Just my opinion. :oldman:

Now in the Bible we are told
Of old Noah, brave and bold
When all the world around was full of sin.
God looked down from above the sky
And with a very doleful cry
Said 'I'll confine this dreadful lot into the bin'

    While looking down quite closely
He saw that it was mostly
Sin and evil. But then, on a second look
    There appeared a shining light
    Gleaming brightly in the night.
God thought 'this could be a chapter in my book'.

So he sat and thought and pondered
    Until his thoughts had wandered
and he needed to refresh his troubled mind.
So he went and took a needed bath
And with a sudden shrieking laugh
A plot appeared to him 'I'll drown mankind'.

But then his heart was rather troubled,
Poor old Noahs family had doubled
Since his sons had all decided to get wed.
    And Noah really wasn't bad
And it would be rather sad
To drown them with the others in the Med.

So this is what God planned to do.
He'd have a boat and then a zoo
And choose Noah to be the one to oversee
The working of his mighty plan.
A boat built by the hand of man
But designed by God to stand a stormy sea.

So Noah took the task in hand
And with his very tiny band
Of workers, all non-union men and free,
To work just as they pleased
    Though often they were teased
By those that were outside the family.

Now the work was finished just in time
And there began the arduous climb
Of all the creatures from across the world.
Just to keep them all apart
    Sent palpitations to his heart
Lest the tail of the Taiwanese pig became unfurled.

Now when the work was finished
    And the sunshine was diminished
And the stormclouds in the sky began to pour,
    There was such relief inside.
And when the door was shut and tied
They all settled down, and the pig began to snore.

    Now

What the Bible does not say - I'll tell
Inside the Ark all was not well
For all the creatures had very different ways.
Neither the pig, nor goat, or lamb
Were at all keen on the Spam
While the lion looked on them with hungry gaze.

Then the mouse and elephant collided
    And this incident provided
A terrible scene, the elephant prostrate.
And with a very loud scream
    Asked for some soothing cream
To be applied by his unsympathetio mate.

The flea's were a problem from the start
They often went for a meal 'a la carte'
But thanks to some scratching, were never lost long.
The problem with Hippo and Rhino
Was messing up Noahs new lino.
Though the problem was really the 'pong'.

One more fact you didn't know
The flood was scheduled to go
On for much longer. But 'someone' - I won't tell,
    Forgot, or really didn't think
They could end up in the drink

    Cos

Wooden boats and woodworm mix only TOO well..

Christianity was never imposed by violence, although there was violence - especially between Christian faiths during the reformation. There were times when people would follow their ruler and adopt Christianity and get baptized. Baptism though is only the enlightenment towards God, it cannot make one a Christian. That comes when one acquires the Holy Spirit.

If we take into account the proportion of violence committed on non Christians by baptized Christians, and the proportion committed by non Christians on Christians, there is no comparison. In the first centuries after Christ, the persecution and tortures under certain pagan emperors was relentless. Christians were even burned on pyres to light up the games. After that came Islam and the Turks. Later there was the Soviet Union where tens of millions were killed either in the wars with the Reds, or in gulags.

In these past years there has been a genocide of Christians that averaged about 300 a day - mostly in Syria. But you will rarely hear Christians screaming about their sufferings and what they have gone through - yet the proportion would be astronomical compared to non Christians.

This has to do with the Holy Spirit and the inner peace he gives. This is why He is called the 'Comforter'. Of course it all depends on the extent of one's Grace, as well as the combined extent of Grace within a society - or the lack thereof.

    Just my opinion!:oldman:

The point was nothing to do with violence caused by non-christians. It was violence by Christians. The Christian faith has used violence more than once. Whether you differentiate between 'born again' Christians and mere Christianity is up to you. The Roman Church has used violence down through the ages. It also used the Latin Vulgate Bible which people were not allowed to own, and if they did they couldn't read it. They opposed study, except by 'authorised' people. Murderous Popes, Murderous inquisitors.

Wasn't Eve made from one of Adam's ribs? So how could she have been any different than Adam was? She was a clone and had every fault that he got from the dirt. If God hadn't been so cheap he would have used a precious metal or a precious gem stone to make Adam with. Things might have turned out better. Even an ash and elm tree would have been better than dirt and a bloody rib.

If this really is the ark of Noah, found decades ago, why are Abrahamic religions still treated as belief rather than truth?

    Like evolution.

Many have come to faith exactly that way, by questioning. Do you ever question your beliefs?

The theory of evolution is supported by a wide range of observations throughout the fields of genetics, anatomy, ecology, animal behavior, paleontology and others. It's been tested and scrutinized for over 150 years and has come out the stronger for it.

Well .. not much for 200 years or so - Then a certain sect within Christianity got a taste of power - usurped the position of Jesus "Pontifex Maximus - first the grand emperor - son of Sol the Sun God - which is how Jesus is depicted in art at the time - interestingly enough - and then the Popes - started making up new rules - and changing doctrine... an evil doctrine - which ushered in the 1000 + years of horror.

Yes but the whole idea was discredited many years ago. Even in the 1960's when I was studying.

I've questioned my beliefs many times since giving up Christianity. The more I study the more convinced I am that I am right.

We have emerging proof of evolution. No emerging proof of any supreme being.

And that means they're right? I think your 'billions' include the 'faithful' for whom it is simply a matter of practice to go to church once a week and forget religion for the rest of the week. How many 'baptised/christened' children = despite parents promises - ever attend church again Church membership is no guarantee of Christianity in its truest form.

Jesus never harmed anyone, or told anyone else to, unlike the bloody 'prophet'. Even today, Christianity has more voluntary conversions than all other religions combined, about equal to the population of TX annually.

It means the claim that nobody believes these truth claims is bunk.

If you're going to not count the faithful as biased I can do the same with skeptics.

Yes, and lots of people who convert to Christianity were raised in Godless homes, it works both ways.

And millions have the opposite experience.

Let me know when you find how the first non-life became life, or what set off the big bang.

There are libraries written on evidence for the existence of God. I can't *prove* my position, and you can't *prove* yours, but I believe that given the evidence my position is more likely true than not.

This evidence is after the 1960's. There are many human traditions of a flood and lots of natural evidence. Where I live in the Rio Grande Valley for instance there is 1,500' of water deposited sediment in an area that gets 9" of rain a year.

You don't judge a philosophy by it's misuse. It's like condemning the Democratic Party by what the Democrat John Wilkes Booth did. For real horror, see atheistic communism. Stalin killed more per week at one point that died in several centuries of the Spanish Inquisition.

I'm sure you believe that. I would say the opposite, that the more we know the more your theory is in trouble. Darwin thought simple cells arose spontaneously in mud, we now know there is more information in a simple cell than in a set of encyclopedias. Where do we find information that wasn't put there by intelligence?
