Your small detail I do not understand .. how is having money in the bank - money that you own - not the same as owning the money yourself ?

Someone owns this money/ and or assets - and they can dispose of these assets at their will. While this might be more difficult than withdrawing cash in some cases -- say the assets have to be sold - they are still your assets ... just as having money in a REIT is still your money - money you own yourself.

I have not done much research into what exactly "Custody and Management entails" what asset classes are included - it could be just cash for all I know - is property included ? What is not in question however, is the fact that someone owns this wealth.

I used that article as the basis for my thread but didn't read the full title. I'm not disgusted by Bezos' wealth, I rather like Bezos, though not as much a Gates or Musk. People like this are the James Watts of today.

One person in American history who probably had even more actual value in his fortune was John Jacob Astor. He had "only" about $20,000,000 but this was in the Early National period.

The reason I started the thread wasn't to attack Bezos but just to probe the interest of someone having a personal wealth of a trillion dollars. What could you do with that much money? I suppose Saddam Hussein might have known something of that since he was reputed to have several palaces that were actually small cities in their own right. I guess you could actually buy your own country with that much.

If the money is money that the owners own and not the money of the banks depositors I see your point and stand corrected, however, I wasn't aware that the money managed was entirely or even mostly the money of those banks owners.

Money in a REIT is not quite your personal money. A REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust), as you know, is sort of like a stock company in Real Estate. Corporations do not own all their stocks just as banks don't own all their deposits.

Bezos might have trouble paying for his pizza if he doesn't carry some cash or a card. His money isn't
in some Scrooge McDuck vault where he can swim through it - it's money as in bricks, mortar, internet
business, employees etc.. To fully realize this wealth he would have to sell everything.
I think Musk might beat him to the trillion. Just reading about this "virtual power station" thing which could
come as a result of his million mile battery (cars acting as part of the grid) This could be worth more than
his cars. And his Starlink could be worth more than all else he has. So yeah, I want to see Musk have a
trillion or two - we all benefit.

I am invested in a wide array of things and utilize some somewhat sophisticated trading tactics .. Options - puts calls . shorting ... but mostly I am long in various stocks.

IN any case - the money under Custody and Administration - would be owned by the various banking families - industrialist families - media families - and then there is cross-over - that make up the elite. Found another 25 Trillion stashed over at JP.Morgan ...

    The point here is

    1) to conceptualize how much wealth this is - we are now at near 90 Trillion - spread among these aforementioned families.
    2) Understand how these families influence our political process ... and bend it to their will :)

oh .. and PS - did you know Ivanka was shagging Nathan's son Nathan .. at one point ! .. now that is a nice Sugar Daddy.

Many of us here own Amazon stock either directly or through a fund. Purchases affect price.

and right after being seriously disgusted the people went on Amazon to buy the latest Nike shoe.

you don’t want Jeff to become a trillionaire then get off your fat lazy ass and go buy your product at a retail store. Americans are pathetic.

What do you consider poor? Federal poverty guidelines place a single person making $12,600 per year as poor. In the state of New Jersey nearly 50% of adult males 35 and younger still live at home with their parents.

I read that 75% of America's poor have air conditioning in their car.
In the 1960's you were off to have this.
In the 1940's you paid for a guy to pump some cold air into your car with a hose.
In the 1920's only a billionaire could have air conditioned cars
In 1900 only the rich could even own a car.

    Where's our gratitude?
