Then why isn’t requiring ID to purchase a firearm discriminatory?

Both are constitutional rights. But the left argues that requiring ID to vote is racist and discriminatory against minorities, while at the same time holding the position that you must have an ID to exercise your other constitutional right of purchasing a firearm.

    This implies that either:
    A) It’s not racist and discriminatory to minorities to require ID to vote or

    B) It’s okay to be discriminatory and racist to minorities when they’re purchasing firearms.

    So which is it?

Voting is not a Constitutional Right. It would be 100% Constitutional for a state to decide that from now on the Governor is chosen by the legislator, or that all Electoral College delegates are chosen by the legislature.

all the Constitution DOES say, is that the right to vote cannot be discriminatory based on race, sex, age, nationality.

I think it’s obvious what the intent of the founders was. But even taking your position into consideration, they would lose all representation in the house. Which would undermine the checks and balances and as such the entire constitution and country itself.

But regardless that’s not the point. In fact it bolsters my point. IF voting is not a right... the second amendment is. Which means if you can require ID for that and it not be discriminatory why can’t you require it for voting?

You have to supply a valid ID when you register to vote and a clear signature.

I have to show ID to buy a six pack of beer why? Demoncrats say I shouldn't have to when voting why? I think we all know why.

Youre supposed to but that’s not what happens.

Regardless, if it’s acceptable to require ID to register, what’s the problem with requiring it to vote?

a vote is not a deadly weapon, and arguing it is...would be absurd.

no court would ever accept such a silly argument.

however, if a court decided that a valid govt. ID is required to register to vote, I'd have no problem with that

Ostensibly, we aren't supposed to notice the flagrant hypocrisy of this. I mean, if you point it out, the left will just call you names, like racists. The truth is that the left enjoy discrimination, except when they feel that it gets in the way of their ability to cheat in elections.

I suppose that all those folks who died in nursing homes in NY state as a result of Cuomo's orders might disagree with your first statement....

LOL>.. Yes, an example of how having voted caused death... That's a diversion. But wasn't that your point to begin with? Divert without actually addressing the conversation of the thread?

    Stupid strawman crap.

The purpose of voter Id goes along with the purpose of closing places where the Ids can be obtained, making obtaining the IDs onerous, closing polling places, and the rest of what the Republican party has been doing for 20 years...

To suppress the vote of those who will most probably vote for someone else.

    Try again.

The argument isn't that people shouldn't id themselves to vote the argument is about what is an acceptable way to id oneself.

Really? Far more damage can be done with a vote than a gun. Ask the Jews

Agreed. And it’s required to present it to vote.

And the left openly tries to close down gun stores and impede people’s ability to purchase guns.

The same and far more egregious attempt to infringe upon our rights. But that ID is cool. No discrimination there. Hypocrisy at its finest.

No they don’t. The vast majority of republicans would be fine with a national voter ID card
