I keep seeing people say that it was bad. I have not been able to watch. My mother (in her 70's) sounded very distressed when she was watching FOX News and saw the video. I was on the phone with her and she started saying things like Jesus while watching. She's just the sweetest old Christian black lady that you could meet. This world needs prayer and change.

So in the video footage that we havn't seen - will we see that this fellow was not handcuffed and on his stomach - somehow he will be running around resisting arrest ?

Even Hannity is aghast - full on unadultered cop apologist from way back - the department already fired all 4. Yer like - the only dude on the planet that doesn't get it man .... :)

Highlights from tonights show - which I watched after posting - reflect exactly what I said - commentators saying "The Golden Rule" in the police force is when the guy is in cuffs the fight is over. Previous resisting of arrest is null and void as an excuse for anything after that - sans some miraculous Houdini escape.

Yer not gettin it .. this was crazy stuff these cops did ... Every other police force in the world manages to get the perp into custody alive - once the cuffs are on ... Sans ... Somalia and other such places. This kind of thing does not happen ... We seem to make a habit of it.

This was the most aggregious case though - especially given the increased awareness that doing what that dude was doing was freaken way way way out of line. Hannity is literally pronouncing the guy guilty ... freaken Hannity ... if you knew nothing else about the situation that should be way more than enough ..

The last guy in the world to admit that a cop is guilty .. says "Guilty" leaving only you :)

Maybe some of these cop defenders are cops themselves?

Why loot Target? What did Target have to do with the death? It’s just mindless, senseless thuggery.

And do you think the looters are concerned with social issues? Of course not. They just want a free TV.

Hannity comes from a long line of Law Enforcement - can't get out a sentence without praising cops to high heaven - putting them on a way higher pedestal than deserved - and even Hannity was going "wtf".

Untrue, when one person accidentally causes the death of another through negligence rather than intent, that's manslaughter.

No but you do need deliberate intent and there was none here.

May be trying to appease the mob who might not be happy with a manslaughter prosecution. Also the prosecutor may be aiming high but settling for less, hoping they'll plead out.

I've read a number of comments by people who excuse the cops' behavior.

Because this was not a deliberate act, no one snapped, he did not realise he was killing him.

And he didn't kill him for forgery, he killed himself whilst resisting arrest

Did the business management condemn the cops' actions?

    It's called a hypothesis.
But sticking to the facts we know, the cops had a guy apprehended and handcuffed, on the ground. One chocked the guy to death while onlookers begged him to stop. His fellow cops at the scene did nothing to help. When they realized they'd killed the guy, they did not react as if it were even a whoopsie. All four were promptly fired.
Now, what are we talking about or do we just end the thread?
Death by cop happens and I think you can even find a disparate impact by race. Even so, in most cases, death by cop happens for a number of reasons from lack of training to incompetence and just bad luck. But when race gets mixed into it, you get people polarized and their eye off the ball: is there anything to be done to make things better?

    In most cases.

I do think this matter is different. I hope these cops are investigated for corruption. Was George Floyd murdered for reason?

In the video I saw posted by The Amazing Lucas at youtube.com which appears to have been taken down, re added, and maybe taken down again, the pertinent issues occur after any alleged resistance. They have the guy on the ground, more than one cop upon him, on his belly, handcuffed. One cop appear then to commit, at a minimum, man slaughter. All four were fired. What happened was not by the book. But were I the prosecutor I would charge 1st degree murder and all lesser included offenses and investigate the hell out of these guys. Was this intentional murder? Did they have reason to want this particular individual dead? Was this a hit in broad daylight by cops that thought they could get away with it?

It was up to the officer to decide if he was unconscious or not, he knows better than we do. You're assuming the other officers knew what was happening but the 2 restraining the body and feet would not have been able to see what the guy at the head was doing and the 4th was quite rightly keeping his eye on the crowd. Couple that with the shouting from the crowd, traffic passing and radio blaring....?

Oh? I reckon there was a lot of intent to keep that knee on that bloke's neck....despite his protestations and those of the observers. Why was an Ambulance called...presumably by the Bastards?
