There is no excuse for looting in this situation. To excuse is an insult to any human intelligence that could be ascribed to any group. Theft is not protest. Not that property is more important than protest. Destruction is one thing; personal gain is another.

Corrupt, violence prone police under the command of corrupt politicians will always eventually be used to incite riots.

The video that has been released is all you need to see. What happened before does not matter. Yes, maybe he did resist arrest. BUT, once he was handcuffed and on the ground it is over. Now I assume most of you good people are law abiding citizens who have never had the pleasure. of being arrested by the police. When they handcuff you they put your hands behind your back.So to get a feel what I am talking about here you going to need to use duct tape and tape your hands behind your back and lie down on the floor. I am not saying you will be unable to get to your feet but i ask you, in this position how much of a threat would you pose to someone. I guess you could still kick them with your feet. So when the officer is asked why did he put his knee on his neck, I wonder what he will say? He feared for his life? The guy might run away? This isn't the first time we have heard someone say they can't breathe and died from being strangled. Ive seen all i need.Unless you can show me why you need to strangle a guy who is hancuffed and on the ground

 

No. There are not hundreds every month. Plus, you have to define "these cases". Cases where the police officer clearly used excessive force to the point where most people would agree that it's murder, like Mr. Floyd's death are extremely rare and do get national attention.

There may be a few dozen cases per year (not hundreds) where police shoot/kill a civilian where the case doesn't get national attention because there is question over whether the police action was justifiable or not (or because the victim was not black and the story didn't play into a strategized political narrative).

Case in point. Police shot a man in my city last month for disregarding officer commands, getting in his car and attempting to flee the scene. They shot at the car, hit the man and he died. No national news story, and no buildings in my city were burned to the ground. There were some small peaceful protests. Officers were responding to a call saying a man was "doing drugs in his car with a gun". No gun was found. The man ended up dead for resisting search and/or arrest.
