Halloween is a time for masks, not grocery outings. I don’t wear a mask pumping gas, taking the dog for a walk, going to the park, driving, buying groceries, going to the car wash, etc. it’s an authoritarians wet dream that all will comply and no one will object. That’s how masses are oppressed in other countries.

We are also a nation where there have been more recoveries than deaths, and the numbers reflect that.

A big business like Cost o isn’t the same as a ma and pa shop. A business can try to force customers against their will to do something, but expect to lose a lot of business as a result. And Costco is a perfect example of just that.

tongue in cheek? If you say so.

You are welcome to stay home. You are welcome to don a neat little home-made mask and stay home or even go out. That is the beauty of freedom. You are free to believe that you will get enough virus load to become infected with covid just by passing someone on the street.

Yes, but even if it weren't, I knew you wouldn't be the one to take on the "harm to people" question. That's not what you were really interested in, was it? I didn't think so....

Here is an interesting anecdote: My wife teaches kindergarten. Her colleague who teaches third grade asked her students (in her virtual classroom) why they thought people wore masks when they go out, and gave them several options. She thought they would say it was to protect them from the virus other people were carrying. But several jumped up to answer that they were used to protect others.

I wouldn't assume that none of them had parents who are Trump supporters. But I think it's safe to assume that they are not of the Trump hard-core loyalist base.

How would you do? Let's see.

Why do people wear masks? (choose one)
    1- Because it looks good
2- To protect yourself from being infected by others
3- To protect others in case you are infected
4- Because they are liberal bastards who want to undermine the divine figure of The Orange One (she didn't actually offer this one, I just added it because I'm sure Trump ... uhm.... loyalists.... would think the options are incomplete if this is not included)

Are you as smart as a third-grader?

The numbers have been showing all along that once infected, a person has a less than 1% chance of dying from it. You have about the same percent chance of dying in an auto accident on US highways. Does that frighten you? Do you avoid riding in automobiles?

Did you wear a mask all of last year with 59,000 flu deaths?

    I don't wear a mask because I don't fear the virus.

The flu is very contagious. Is 59,000 deaths nothing to you? It's only cool if it's 100k?

At what point is something contagious "serious" to you?

I guess my question was answered. You did not wear a mask when 59,000 Americans died last year of a contagious virus.

59,000 deaths from a contagious virus in ONE YEAR is not enough for you to put a mask on?

Weird. I thought you supported public safety.

Let's not get into emotional hyperbole here. If you look at the numbers, the chances of recovering from this virus are greater than dying from the virus/ If people were less fearful and actually armed themselves with the facts, they wouldn't fall for this lockdown charade, regardless of political affiliaton. The fact people don't want to go out or even go back to work tells me the fear campaigning is working. This isn't a plague we're dealing with here. It's a virus we've seen in a similar fashion before back in 2002. Personally, I would be more worried about the super bugs developing right now due to the over-prescribing of antibiotics these bugs are resistant to.

hold on i thought ppl dont trust WHO anymore, so now WHO doesn't recommend wearing mask is ok to them? maybe china is telling WHO to said that in order to get more american sick by not wearing mask. after all china/japan/Sk pretty much east asia are wearing mask, and somehow has lower death rate, go figure.

What the f... hell? Where did you get this nonsense about there being a 1% chance of dying in an auto accident on US highways?

You hear this nonsense on wingnut media, and you actually believe it?

Look... to me dying is not nearly as scary as having somebody I love die. Especially by me infecting them. People who don't care, or don't love anybody but themselves (like Trump.... and very likely many of his supporters who think like him) don't have that problem, of course.

To me, infecting anybody who died..... would be a tragedy that I would carry as a great weight all my life. I'm sure you don't identify with this sentiment. As a matter of fact, if through any action I took.... such as convincing somebody not to wear a mask, somebody were to die as a result of a chain of infections, it would also be a great blow. But Trump supporters will promote this demented practice because.... Trump saith so....

I didn't know that what you just said is a coherent sentence.

That being said- I take it you wore a mask all of last year?

Thank you lefties, your incessant hammering has made me a believer. I now will only wear a mask if it is a requirement for entrance and avoid all those places where it is mandatory.

And I am going to avoid all places where people are not wearing masks or are beyond shouting distance. As an aged hopeless cripple I don't do much bar hopping anyway.

Mask wearing seems like a class thing, I’m noticing more. Lower class don’t see to give a crap.
