The Wuhan coronavirus is no longer a threat of much consequence. Pretty much over with except for the gaining of near full herd immunity, and that's well on the way.

Depends on the marching orders the rioter-looter-burners receive.

Atlanta has been trying to improve itself, no doubt. I think if you go back through the history of riots, you'll find quite a lot of them were started by outside the area, community agitators. I don't know if this is the case for Atlanta. It just seems very strange to me that the blacks of Atlanta would be protesting and rioting against a city totally run and operated by blacks.

The Atlanta police force had nothing to do with what happen in Minneapolis. The whole thing is crazy.

It doesnt help for sure, but I think those with common sense understand that Minneapolis doesnt represent all of MN any more than detroit = MI, etc.... at least hopefully.

That police officer who murdered her had also been through Minneapolis' "very robust training and hiring" program (which fast-tracks officers of color to add diversity).

    upload_2020-5-30_10-26-36.png

Damon called 9-1-1 to report a suspected rape that day. Officer got spooked when she approached the police car unarmed and barefoot, and shot her in the chest, killing her.

    Public response:

"The day after the killing, a vigil in Damond's honor was held at the site of her death in the alleyway entrance located on the north side of West 51st Street between Xerxes Avenue South and Washburn Avenue South in Minneapolis.[39] Several days after the killing, hundreds marched to Beard's Plaisance Park in Minneapolis, in honor of Damond."

Death by cop. No arson, looting, or national public outcry. Candlelight vigil; peaceful protest march.

I'm not a CNN watcher. But when I heard that there was rioting outside their building, I switched over. It was clear, for anyone watching from inside the building, that these were not 'protesters'. They were rioters, using the opportunity to create as much chaos and damage as possible. White and black. And it was a little horrifying, from the view inside the building behind the police line, to watch and wait to see if they would actually break the final window and get inside.

Priorities! Burn down the city and shoplift all you wish, but please wear a mask, for your own safety. :p

I'll assume that you also found all of the other rioting "horrifying" too, and not just the CNN attack.

Indeed I did! I found it sickening. And I'm sure the peaceful protesters around the country are pissed to see that their message has now been drowned out by a$$holes wanting to create chaos.

Thank you for that post Pants. I am ideologically opposed to you but I respect your unequivocal condemnation of the rioters. This makes you far more credible to me and I will pay closer attention to your posts in the future.

Thanks, Hockey Dad. I don't see every issue as being a political one. And I despise that these riots have been used to promote one political agenda or another.

Frey "understands the anger" of Minneapolians. He asked the police to stand down during the protests to keep people from getting hurt.

Mayor Frey also ignored his Chief of Police last year when the chief advised that the city was 400 officers short-staffed to counter and control the violence that Somalian migrant gangs were causing. The left calls the lack of police resources and response, "Tolerance."

You didn't think people who were smart and educated were out their looting, vandalizing and burning buildings to the ground, did you? A person has to be pretty stupid to be in the center of all that violence. I can see some curious folks standing at a distance looking to see what's happening, but anyone in the middle of it is pretty dumb.

During his press conferences, wouldn't he be asked by at least SOME media if he supports the violent riots?

Yes, I am. But I don't see any politics at play - from either side - in all of this. Not in the police action against Floyd, not in the protests and not in the riots. I do there there is a pervasive institutional racism at play in the US but I am not putting that down to partisan politics either. It has existed under both party's leadership. We need to stop talking/blaming left and right and start acting. As one people who oppose the ill treatment of one race over another. In some cases, unfortunately, there is a willful blindness to the issue. But I think much can be done without their involvement.

It's always convenient to blame white folks.

So you want to be like Mexico. What a shock.

Maybe we could even strive to be like China.
