I think you are being racist and calling white people lazy. The vast majority of people in that era has no slaves and did the back breaking work themselves, yes. Get off your high horse, stop blaming others for your own shortcomings, and lets treat everyone of all races as equals.

That shows you just how foolish the South was. If they had went along with Abraham Lincoln's program, they could have kept their slaves AND avoided the Civil War. When I first heard this I couldn't believe it.
Somebody was giving Jefferson Davis bad advice. Then, Lincoln decided to free the slaves after all as a political tactic.

The civil war was about more than just slavery. Slavery was a big part of it, but there was so much more.

I'd like to sincerely recommend just one to you. It has no agenda and is simply a well researched biography that really gives insite into the antebellum period and the causes of the civil war. I recently read it and came away with a real understanding of that brutal but interesting era.
