Biden says police should be trained to ‘shoot 'em in the leg instead of the heart’

Course back in Feb 2013 "Earlier this month, Biden told an interviewer that he had advised his wife, Jill, "if there's ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out and put that double-barrel shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house."

 

Biden's an idiot without the first clue about firearms, or anything else for that matter.

 

Biden hasn't been seen in several weeks and this is what he has to say? The man is clueless when it comes to shooting firearms on targets. First off when you have someone with a knife, that can be and is a lethal object and needs to be treat as such. 2nd, it is dam near impossible to shoot "them in the leg" when they are moving and given the stress of the situation. In additional to that, if lethal force is going to be used, why are you aiming for the leg when the torso is 3-4x bigger then the leg?This isn't Hollywood folks.

I wonder if the democrat party is having second thoughts about their top choice.

 

Certainly I'm not. Because I've wondered about the same myself. I'll admit to not being a 'gun person', but I've never understood why the order is always a 'shoot to kill' by the police. When an assailant is running away, why must they be killed? A shot to the leg would slow them down. I can understand an armed assailant coming right at you - I can understand why that would be a shot to the heart. But in so many cases over the years, a shot to the leg could easily suffice.

 

Today Biden talked about the current situation and did not condemn the violence.

If he doesn’t denounce it, he supports it. He’s a complete moron.

 

Police are taught to shoot to stop the threat. The easiest target is the torso also known as center mass, a leg shot can stop the threat but it's not guaranteed. The fact should also be considered that there are several arteries running through the lower extremities, the cutting of any of which will lead to a quick death via blood loss.

 

As I said, I'm not a gun person or a medical professional. But I think a center mass shot is excessive in many, many cases.

 

Indeed . . . and then ambulance chaser style lawyers -- backed by the leftist ACLU -- will methodically sue all law enforcement agencies "FOR the officer deliberatly targeting the legs in an attempt -- as the lawyer will maintain -- to, your honor, permanently maim my client."

 

These sorts of comments are indicative of a sub-Law Enforcement 101 understanding of police procedures.

This is slightly less ridiculous than "Why don't cops just shoot the malice out of the perpetrator's heart?"

 

So our leftists endorse officers putting their lives at risk in the name of Political Correctness . . . because shooting the legs of a moving target is incredibly difficult during a confrontation. So when the officer misses and gets maimed for life or dies as a result of this leftist politically correct technique being forced upon them Leftists agree that the DNC should be required to pay said officer or the officer's surviving family members at least ten million dollars per failed attempt?

 

So shooting the leg of someone running away puts the officer in danger?

 

I stated, at the outset, I'm no expert. As I'm sure few are. But thanks for the attempt to belittle for simply offering my opinion.

Okay. I really don't know procedures and laws, so my question is sincere. Are police trained to shoot differently at someone running away? I was under the impression that it was always the largest target, as you first suggested. But I'm happy to be corrected...

 

Officers generally don't shoot people running away unless its an armed thug running toward a group of innocents. Now with that established, said officer is supposed to carefully aim for the legs rather than the larger center of mass target; and now when he misses -- because unlike in the movies -- he or she IS going to miss such a difficult shot, and instead hits the innocent people, our political Left is NOT going to demand that the officer pays with his career or even his life as a result of trying to apply leftist political corretness?

You can't use deadly force if your life is not in immediate danger. To shoot at someone running away would violate laws, SOPs, and basic gun safety rules.
