The interesting thing is that this 'star athlete' says he had been "protective of himself while attending the protest"...!

The takeaway? Anyone going to any of these 'protests' needs to weigh carefully the exciting fun of getting to run wild and raise hell, with the very real possibility that you can get COVID-19 while in the middle of a MOB! As they say in big-time football games, "It ain't over 'till it's over...."

And I'm afraid that COVID-19, with at least 33 different strains going around the planet right now, is definitely NOT 'OVER'....

. "NOW can I go protest safely...?"

 

Both the 'peaceful' protesters and rioters are strongly putting themselves at risk for coming down with Covid-19 while also infecting family members and friends. It shows that they are eagerly willing to put their bodies on the line for their beliefs. Now if only they would refrain from blaming Trump for the inevitable result when they or family members or friends are coughing up their lungs.

 

I'm focusing entirely on the very real possibility that thousands of these 'protesters', rioters, thieves, and other criminals are spreading the damned virus even more. These 'protests' should be SHUT DOWN everywhere as a clear and present danger and public health menace!

Example: Some 'protester' gets infected and gives it to all his little friends. Then they pass it on to their family, friends, people they do business with, etc., etc. It all reminds me so much of that movie, "Contagion". But even in that story, they didn't have the accelerant of many thousands of people running amok all over big cities in the middle of uncontrolled 'protests' like we do right now!

The takeaway: if a 'star athlete', in tip-top physical condition, at the apex of his physical life, can contract this virus so easily -- even though he was "protective of himself", then what are the unavoidable implications for EVERYBODY else? This COVID thing ain't just for croakers in the nursing homes anymore.... And if I'm right, in about another month or six weeks, we're going to see some BIG spikes in the virus everywhere in the United States, and all these mob 'protests' are just going to make everything much, much worse! Just what we need....

 

We are in agreement. I have also noticed that the leftist posters endlessly HOWLING that we are all going to die if state economies were allowed to open up again . . . haven't said word one of late about Covid-19 or masks or social distancing; as if the protests somehow cured the virus.

Who knew that it would only take setting our own cities on fire while looting and mugging and murdering the occassional innocent in the name of Social Justice to cure the pandemic inside the United States?

A couple of weeks ago every Trump supporter on this forum was screaming about why THEY should wear masks and abide social distancing

It was as if they believed the “grate leader” had successfully wished the virus away

Oh, come on, Bower -- that's bullshit! When have you ever seen me post that the COVID-19 virus has not created a PANDEMIC, worldwide? But you pick me out as someone to revile as having said that there's no pandemic? LOOK AT MY SIG LINE! What does it say? I made that prediction two weeks ago, before all the 'protest' hooptie, when everybody was getting giddy at the idea of "opening up"....

But, YOU, like all the other good, little, doctrinaire hyperlibs like to paint other people with a very broad-brush -- and often with a cavalier disregard for the FACTS!

 

We are in agreement! There's nothing wrong with 'opening up' -- so long as it is done intelligently and responsibly, and I, for one, still think we should wear the masks and (more importantly) WEAR GLOVES.

But, those two words, "intelligently" and "responsibly" are not reflected in any of these violent, stupid mobs of rioters, arsonists, and thieves who are out all over our cities, committing crimes and SPREADING DISEASE!

How interesting -- we force people to stop gathering in churches to worship God in order to stop the spread of disease, but we freely allow rioters and thieves to run amok everywhere, doing whatever they like! What a bizarre, weird, and warped thing the hyperliberal mind is!

 

The rioters and thieves are hardly going around "amok everywhere, doing whatever they like".

I had to criss-cross across the City and County of Los Angeles a number of times today, and was watching to see the terrible devastation from the rioters!

Nothing. Gee, I guess bodies were hidden and the had put movie sets to cover the burned out blocks and whole neighborhoods of wiped out homes!

Now THOSE people were dangerous. They were spreading COVID. But barely a peep when others were protesting for BLM or looting?

That is a very bold and incorrect statement, in fact, if there is not a huge spike resulting in millions of new cases by Monday, June 8, I call this Chinese virus thing overkill and the destruction in thousands of once thriving businesses, criminal incompetence.

Honestly, I don't know, Eleuthera... this 'star athlete', Ogbongbemiga, is a football player (as I understand it). I've pretty much lost interest in all sports except for ice hockey....

The only thing that was interesting to me about the story was that it may herald the further spreading of the virus if it's so easy for even someone at the peak of physical health, in the prime of life, to get it....

 

For months now, the data has shown that once infected, a person has greater than 98% chance of survival, likely more than 99%.

Anecdotal, but I know more than 30 individuals who had it and survived just fine. Some had hard symptoms, others had weak symptoms, and these are just normal people in their 50's and 60's.

For the average person it is not much different than the flu.

For those with weak immune systems and comorbidities, it is fatal.

The first thing I saw when I turned on the news this morning was an interview with the owner of a little dental clinic in Minneapolis. A DENTAL CLINIC! Everything in the place was broken, scattered all over, and destroyed -- by "protesters". A DENTAL CLINIC!

Be glad I'm not in charge of the country's defense, Dave... I'd have the military out in force with "shoot-to-kill" orders on any and all rioters, arsonists, vandals, and looters. Peaceful protest is right and proper -- and the policemen involved in the Floyd killing must and should stand trial for all charges brought against them.

But this other horseshit?! The gutter-trash involved in the wanton destruction, arson, and looting should be arrested, or, shot on sight!

Given the increasing evidence that COVID-19 may cause male sterility, both the Black Live Matters and anti-lockdown protestors are going to have fewer children to follow in their footsteps.

 

I am quite happy letting the "woke" contingent of this country take the brunt of the effort to establish herd immunity. In this they are doing something useful.

 

Word. I've always appreciated reading your posts, you're level-headed, intelligent and you don't take any BS. You're right that these protests are going to accelerate the virus a thousand time fold, they're not practicing social distancing they're all chanting and yelling(and thereby releasing aerosols into the air for others to catch) and woops.


I still have hope(not based on anything, but the need to remain sane) that we can defeat the coronavirus but this is certainly a step back in those efforts.

Maybe if a few of the bystanding police officers watching the one cop kneeled hard on the throat of the non-armed, unconcious victim for 5 minutes or more had "shot to kill" this cop (who had numerous history of exceeding force), there would have NO RIOTS AT ALL!

They should have pulled Derek Chauvin completely off and away from Floyd and restrained him. Then they should have pushed Floyd into the police car! He was already handcuffed. It should have been relatively simple. Floyd was reportedly raising all kinds of hell about being put in the car, but they could have stunned him or gassed him, and gotten his ass down to the police station.

In that scenario, Chauvin wouldn't have killed Floyd, but the other officers should have reported him anyway for excessive force!

BTW, why the hell doesn't Minneapolis equip its police officers with BODY CAMERAS...?! Those images would have "filled in a lot of blanks"....
