This is not a 70 alliance it was an occupation. We were there because Germany surrendered. We never we t there because Germany asked us to be there. I really do not care why we are leaving. I am just happy we have a president that wants to leave. My only stipulations would be that we make sure we bring all our weapons with us when we leave.

You mean like when Trump announced that US troops will leave Syria with the resultant fanfare only for Trump to afterwards quietly send different US troops into Syria?

The occupation ended decades ago. From then on it was by invitation.

We have our own weapons, which in most cases are better quality. What you cant take away is infrastructure,

So Trump is wrong for planning to remove US troops from a foreign country that does not want them there. Oh the horror!

I was beginning to think that all Germans were the same, until someone said you were Sobo. We also had a young German who was half Italian, and boy he sounded like you too, so is he or isn't he?

As for Trump, you can hate him as much as you want, but the only alternative would be to vote in a bunch of criminals. This is what the US has digressed to. Right now there are court cases going on over the criminality of; Obama, Clinton, Biden, etc. In order for the Democrats to win the election and save themselves from jail, they are willing to throw our whole country and the world into a depression. All these so called 'protests', are backed by Soros and his gangs.

I SAY BRING BACK THE MONARCHY.

    GREETINGS!

At least I had nothing to gain,
    not money or elusive fame,
can those in charge now say the same?

My problem was I feared my head
that I might lose it and be dead
and gave away my rights instead.

And this is why you foolish folk
are looked upon now as a joke
    controlled by every criminal bloke

who can buy the media - Jeannette

Many of us regret that the US got involved in WWII and interfered with a European problem. And we really regret the Marshall Plan.

And that damned Winston Churchill, well, they sure showed that somebeach today that he never counted for nothing and was just part of a problem.

It was a 2X big mistake for the USA to get entangled in Europe.

Nope, Mutti's popularity is on a all time high. Her management of the Virus Crisis was and is just outstanding. No more Mutti muss wech.
Opposite a lot of people are hoping, that she runs again, even if it is just for half a term, till Germany is again on a level keel.
Everybody had thought this being her last term she would be a lame old, worn out duck.
But did she proved them wrong.
If there were elections today, she probably could win a majority and govern without a coalition partner. The leader of the sister party Soeder ( CSU) has shown great leadership, too.
    He could become Kanzler, too.
    The US :
Barbie Girl and Bunker Boy, what a team.

Well yes, gutsy, too. Remember Ol' Lech, stood of the Soviets, that guy had some serious stones and his followers, too.
Poland is one of the back waters of Europe, still has not completely recovered from the Soviet Ara.
So poor suckers would go from plush Germany to a second world country, its like being send to Alaska.

I remember when the right attacked Obama, saying he was trying to create the police State, turns out it was republicans

Trump does what the right claimed Obama would do... and the right embraces it now

The best thing for Germany is to get rid of the American troops unless it wants to end up in another world war. I have to laugh at the Poles for wanting our troops. Ah yes, provocation, provocation, provocation! Let's see where that ends.

Ah dear Gnoib, you sound so wonderfully German: "No more Mutti muss wech."!
I'm not at all familiar with other German politicians, but heard of v.d. Leyen, now being the head of the EU.

I see, just as I imagined. But some other old names seem to become popular again, like Moritz and Sebastian and Friedrich, just to name a few.

Yes, and that success will embolden her to withstand demands from the Americans, as to contribute more to NATO etc.

    My dear Jazz,
I am a Kraut and proud of it. Living since over 30 years in the US.
von der Leyen is one of Mutti's Girls, I would watch out for her, she got the stuff and the brain.
Independence, old money and a superb international education. As a boy, I would say, that woman is rather dangerous to the boy club in Europe.
One more thing, the EU is in her genes, because of her father.

Considering Germany, the 2% were always nonsenses. Germany would have a Army larger than during the cold war.
400.000 plus man and over 1000 of the most modern battle tanks, plus Air Force and Navy.
There is no need for that in Europe. France and the UK have international interest, because they still own territory outside Europe.
    Germany has none.
There is nobody around Germany who could be considered an enemy. Every country which borders Germany is a EU country, a friend.
Sure Germany should have a well organized and equipped army, 200,000 should be plenty, more than enough. But than, as a former soldier, what for.
It needs a nice little Navy to protect its trade routs, much more than a huge land force.
1.4% is more than plenty, if used properly , you would not want to screw around with Germany.

Mutti, never had a reason to hide. She was at odds with Obama and Bush, when they came in and she came in.
She managed both of them rather good and they became friends.
Bunker Boy is a idiot and Mutti knows, a dangerous idiot, Mutti knows, she knows how to put him in place and has done so for over 3 years.
