The "defund/disband" police advocates are damned near INSANE!!!

What do these people seriously think would ever replace police departments in major urban centers?

Get real. Wealthy residents and larger businesses would hire private security forces to protect themselves and their interests. Do you people really think the domestic equivalent of Blackwater is going to give a freaking damn about citizens civil rights? You think their rules of engagement are going to be "kinder & gentler" than regular police forces?

Come on.

For the regular residents and small businesses there would be a massive run on obtaining firearms for protection. And be honest, do you think the average untrained citizen is going to be as reluctant to use violence as actual police forces are?

This idea is insane beyond belief.

It will mean beaucoup high paying jobs for ex-military, retired military, and higher prices for products in the store.

Firearms have already been selling like hotcakes since March.

It's pandemoniumism and it will work itself out -- most likely to benefit the rich and punish the middle class and especially punish the poor.

 

If we had a real media they would ask the people wanting to defund/disband the police what would happen if there were no police.

 

What I find interesting is that the majority of our posting leftists have been curiously silent about this wildfire of political-policy stupidity sweeping through their Party. Do you suppose that finally they have reached the point of saying 'No freaking way!" in regards to at least one aspect of Politically Correctness embraced by their Dem Party leadership?

At the end of the day this will destroy the black community in urban areas when implemented. No one will invest in these places. No one will visit these places. No one will help them because they voted for it and brought it upon themselves.

 

These guys dont know what the hell they are talking about. The intention is, to build police from the ground up, give them only tasks that ARMED guys can do. Then the rest, are more suited to not cracking skulls, maybe not carry a gun. Noone gets away anyway. Run from a cop, they send the chopper. Spend a lot, to build good citizens, invested in their communites. So, you dont need too many armed, you have others that do the gruntwork, but dont threaten you with a gun. And you have fewer criminals. So, you get the cost of police, down from almost half the budget.

 

Who gets the present day punishment duty out in the elements in the busiest intersection directing traffic???

Has anyone ever been part of a delegation attempting to get new business to move into a city or neighborhood? One of the first things they tout to a potential business client is "our efficient, professional police department'.

Because that is something that employers actually care about. They don't care about "we spend a lot of time on community outreach".

I was certainly shocked by the defund/disband the police idea when I saw it mentioned in the news. I think it's a step too far. But, I would like it tried somewhere so we can see the result. Just so long as it doesn't happen close to me. I want to be far, far away from a no police town or city.

 

I really don't know how anyone can get rid of their police dept. People need to be protected and criminals need to be arrested. They can dump their police force and hire outside personnel, but as soon as you hand them a weapon and the ability to arrest criminals, they are now the frigging police department.

Not sure where the "defund" wording comes from. Sounds like someone asked a question and ran with an unfortunately worded response.

I think a better word would be "DEMILITARIZE" the police.

Tanks, APCs, battle armor, assault weapons...these cannot be the tools of law enforcement because they are the tools of the military.

The military faces our enemies, they need the gear.
The motto of nearly every PD in this country is something like "Serve and Protect"
When they gear like military then it is natural to see the city as a battleground and its residents as the enemy.
The military does not "serve and protect" the enemy.

Take the weapons of war away and use that money for the community.
