Yes, in Berkeley where a large number of people who had never attended a college and never will were having violent protests, protesting that Berkeley just wasn’t White Christian nationalist enough. It should be known that at Berkeley there are more Asian students than White students. It was only when the local street punks took the fight to the lunatic right wingers that the news media paid attention. The various antiFas had issued calls to action, which is why there was a large peaceful counter protest. It was just a small group who engaged in the violence that the violent right wing gangs had come there to instigate.

It is the way right wing propaganda works. They show little snippets of the worse parts, while ignoring all the rest. Add in a little guided opinion and let people’s prejudices, fears, and imagination take over. I’ve read of studies where a popular figure, like a president, will make some statement and millions will just nod their heads in agreement, even when the statement is a little off.

For instance, in one of George Bush’s State of the Union addresses, he talked about hydrogen fuel cells and how they were going to revolutionize the world. Millions and millions and millions of Americans cheered him on. Newspapers and magazines wrote articles, and experts appeared on news shows touting the possibilities.

Yet there were were a few, estimated at maybe 80 thousand, Americans knew, before the words even finished rolling off of Bush’s thin lips, that it took more energy to collect hydrogen than could ever be realized in using hydrogen cells as an energy source.
