Years ago parents were told they couldnt spank their children. And we were told that giving only the winner a trophy hurt their widdle feelings. Look what that has gotten us.

Right now we have a rotten bunch of little snots taking over an area in Seattle. They were never told no, and now they are just throwing their little temper tantrum. They think if they throw a temper tantrum they will get what they want like they did in the candy store when they were just widdle snots!!!!!!!!!!!!

Time for the authorities to show up with a truck load of big boys and girls panties and tell the to put them on and go home. The world owes you not one damn thing you havent worked for.

Dont hate them at all. I have 3 fantastic grandkids. The oldest graduated HS this year.

BTW she was helping teach a class of freshman college student remedial math starting as a junior. She starts college this fall to become a teacher.

 

And Pelosi and the other ignorant democrats in Congress want to add another 2 TRILLION DOLLARS to that to try to buy democrat votes in Nov. Care to support that???

 

Yeah, I think the OP has actually hit on part of the problem. We certainly have raised a generation of spoiled, entitled losers. Not all, but many. I was raising kids when this began, so I am also to blame. As I remember, the thing was there was a few high profile stories of kids who were truly abused (very few), the government cracked down, and we were all afraid if we gave our kids a dirty look, a social worker would be at our door the next morning to take them from us. So, I blame parents partly, but not entirely.

 

The incompetence is in Congress.

 

Nope, just a good old fashion spanking with your hand applied to their ass. It helps drive their brains back up into their head. I spanked my 3 sons when they needed it, and they are 3 outstanding members of society with excellent jobs and paying in huge sums of taxes.

If I acted when I was young like kids act toward their parents today I wouldn't have any skin left on my ass. Discipline standards have fallen so low and I think society reflects that.

 

Additionally as a parent I had strict rules, probably the greatest of them was street light on, kids in the hours.

Additionally when they turned 16 they all wanted to, and got part time jobs. The house rule was they had to put 1/2 of their take home pay in savings. By the time they got out of HS all 3 had a really good handle on savings.

In the 1950s, it was approved at the school-superintendent level in my county to use corporal punishment on left-handed children, to force them to use their right hands. They tried it on me and made me the hard-core conservative critic of their BS that I am.

What warrants a beating? Indeed!

 

Yeah, just like torturing prisoners of war doesn't actually yield any useful information, beating children doesn't teach them to do the right thing because it is the right thing to do, it teaches them blind obedience to avoid the beatings.

Abusing someone in your care is NEVER justified. You should hope that your children don't return the favor should you become so unlucky to need their care.

There is a big difference between "abuse" (beating) and "discipline." The difference can be difficult to verbalize, but reasonable people (and good parents!) know it when we see it.
