There was "anecdotal evidence" alright. With anecdotal evidence from Trump himself, from diet doctors realized they could make more than "pineapple cures" from plump housewifes, from repeated breathless assurances of the morning, evening and night "top people" from Fox News and every wackdoodle they could find for that "News" show, from Trump's pop-eyed "lawyer" singing its praises, from "Dr. (Not a doctor) Phil", and a dozen other crazies. Every actual Doctor, like

But it is interesting that the stories of its curative power have not been disproven.

They do want a mandatory vaccine, I think, for reasons not at all clear since corona virus isn't much of a threat to the majority of people

Every an actual Doctor, like the French guy, has been discredited by French researchers, a guy who somehow managed to makd his fortune without ever doing any research or studies.

It failure to produce ANY "curative powers" except for the "curative powers" for the crazies who have boosted Trump's boosterism into their bank accounts.

Who is "they"? I haven't asked for it, hard to imagine why something wouldn't want it, but fine if some doesn't want it. People need to not cry and whine when they can't get a job where it is essential.

It is always amusing to see fantasy crushed by fact. All those people rushing around claiming 'big pharma' is stopping a particular treatment because it is cheap & available and what happens - a cheap & available drug gets used to successfully treat COVID. Oh dear. If such people were open to facts it might cause them to question their assumptions, but faith is immune to fact.

Scientists in Australia have also had promising results with a drug usually prescribed to animals for parasites. It has also been approved for human use, though it is not yet clear if it will kill the virus in humans as it does in the laboratory. Another cheap, available drug. Impossible apparently.

    Ivermectin

I was pushing for it too until I found the dose we will have to use

Still off label but we do use it now for “Norwegian” scabies

Fair enough. I haven't followed up on it. I guess that is the difference between working in the lab and working in people. The broader point, however, is that scientists all over the world are rushing to test cheap, approved & available drugs to see if they work. 'Big Pharma' is perfectly happy with this because it means they will be able to start making money across the board straight away, rather than waiting months or years for one or two companies to make a bunch.

The stupidity of conspiracy theorists never ceases to amaze.

Tell me about it! Americans seem uniquely addicted to conspiracy theory thinking - mostly “the right” I admit but there have been some doozies cropping up

Keep in mind this is a US dominated board & we are all speaking English, so our American bretheren tend to be a bit over represented. My dealings with people from other parts of the world suggest that Americans are no worse than most and better than some. While I would agree that the American right is currently a bit more conspiracy prone than the left courtesy of the Republican Party & its attendant media, the gap isn't as wide as you might think. Sadly the cancer of conspiracy theories knows no ideology. It is a psychological rather than ideological issue.

LOL There was no study involving a control group on the use of Hydroxychloroquine and analysis of the outcome of patients on that drug showed that it was detrimental to health. Why are you trying to rewrite history?

    Crazy talk.

Side effects of hydroxychloroquine have been known since the beginning.

Yet another 10,000 votes for President Trump. Keep it up, you're doing fine!

There is only one game changer that may save Trump’s bacon, “the economy”, as everything that relates to Covid19 sank Trump’s approval rating.
