    SEE HERE

This is a Debate Forum. I can disagree with anything and anybody about any subject. Some call that Freedom of Speech.

The Electoral College is an anachronism (I link that word because you likely do not know it)!

No other developed country employs it. Whyzat?

Because its patent manipulation of the popular-vote makes it impossible for them to accept. Except of course simpletons who do not understand the patent fact that a loser of the national popular-vote can actually win an election. The un-manipulated popular-vote is the measure of the peoples' choice in any election to political office. It should not be employed to orchestrate an election outcome.

Ditto Gerrymandering, which is yet another manipulation of the popular-vote at the state level of elections.

If A NATION cannot IMPLEMENT such basic but absolute rules for any effectively honest democracy, then the nation that employs them is NOT A REAL DEMOCRACY!

Yes, indeed. Want to help organize such an effort? (Thought not!)

You are perfectly happy not to do so. Because this mistake suits your purposes on the Rabid Right to maintain an unfair electoral preference. Which is why I employ the word "rabid". It suits the demented mentality on the Right that cannot see right-from-wrong because of its simplistic obsessions.

And it thinks that just because fundamental errors of manipulation of the popular-vote go back two-centuries, that it is both right&proper that they should exist.

It is not understandable why the Supreme Court cannot see the bias in both manipulations. But it is very rare that the SC interferes with amendments to the constitution. Which is dangerous grounds even for a SUPREME Court.

    MY POINT

But, as you say, nothing prevents the states from aggregating to pursue just such a revisional amendment to the Constitution! Except the people themselves who do not have a sufficient grounding in Civics* and Civic Duty. So they could care less resulting that their voting habits become idle.

Which is the sad case of the US actually. That is, keeping people ignorant of their Civic Duties.

    You hope.

What do you think Debate Forums are for and why they are not a great waste of time?

Changing peoples' minds regarding historically-held political mistakes of any democracy requires great effort. I like contributing to that effort ...

As I've mentioned ample times: No other developed country on earth has adopted either gerrymandering or the electoral-college in its means of national governance.

Meaning what? That in the two centuries since the Constitution was written others have seen where and how it made its original mistakes! And they have refused to follow suit.

This was particularly obvious after WW2 and European countries had to rebuild their democracies. So, they looked around to see what existed. Not one* generally adopted principles of either Gerrymandering or the Electoral College as exist presently in the US.

Get it, or do you prefer to remain blind to the actual facts? I think the latter ...

*And where that happens by the natural means of people movements (addresses) they correct the matter if necessary before allowing it to become Truly Unfair at a national level of political governance.

Well, that was easy enough, I simply googled "how many other countries use an Electoral College" and look what I found...Is Ireland not a developed country?
Other countries with electoral college systems include Burundi, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Myanmar, Pakistan, Trinidad and Tobago and Vanuatu. The Seanad Éireann (Senate) in Ireland is chosen by an electoral college.

Beautiful quote from Fredrick Douglass---I admire him. But, what does this quote have to do with California seceeding from the US?

Blind to WHAT facts? If you don't like it, don't sit and whine about it, go out and pass petitions and get it changed. And while you're at it, tell Democrats to stop giving themselves pay hikes. They don't deserve them.

"The hashtag #Calexit trended in social media as the campaign gained attention[17] in the wake of the election of Donald Trump to the presidency in November 2016;[11] California gave Hillary Clinton 61.5% of the vote to Trump's 33.2%.[18] Marinelli asserted this was evidence of the political divide between the state and nation, saying California is more progressive than the rest of the country and that Californians were offended by Trump's statements about minorities.[13]

The campaign staged protests outside the Capitol building in Sacramento after the November 2016 election, though its organizers asserted the protests had been planned months in advance and would have been held, regardless of who won the election.[19] Immediately following the election, the campaign received 11,000 emails.[15]

On November 21, 2016, the Yes California campaign submitted an initiative for signature gathering, with an amendment sent later on December 23 to correct a typo. If passed by voters in November 2018, it would have repealed Article III, Section 1 of the California Constitution, which states California is "an inseparable part" of the U.S., and require an independence plebiscite to be held on March 5, 2019, on the question of California's independence, the passage of which would have required at a minimum 50% voter turnout and 55% voting yes. If the proposed 2019 independence referendum had passed, the Governor of California would have then been required to apply for California to join the United Nations.[20]

On January 26, 2017, the office of California Secretary of State Alex Padilla gave its approval for the signature gathering process to begin.[6]

The Washington Post reported on February 18 that the Yes California campaign had opened up to 53 chapters across the state, but had not yet reported contributions to the California Secretary of State's office.[21]"

It's been done, should they and those from the previous be arrested as traitors for advocating treason, yes or no?

And you say you live in California and know nothing about what is going on in your state.

    1) California will NEVER seceed from the US.
    2) California will NEVER be split into 2 states.
Those are two things about my state that I feel secure about.
    Thank you for the info.

Why do you keep avoiding the question. There are people trying even circulating petitions to do so. Should they be charged with treason and as traitors. If not why not when you claim the Southern States and the citizens of them did so when they seceded. If they did manage to gain the vote and vote in their state would you support Trump sending in the military and have them burn and destroy everything in front of them?

I think that would be Moriah...

What say you? You have said secession was rebellion and the citizens who did were traitors. There are people signing petitions holding rally's in California for secession. I believe there are people in some other states doing so. Should they be charged with conspiracy to commit treason, in-sighting rebellion? Arrested as traitors. If not explain why not. It's only treason if it's a Southern state that wants to leave the Union?

Good to see you back, my friend, but they are myths and have been exploded time and time again, so, "no, you don't get just once more."

And the Confederate States were worried that would change and that the Constitution didn't do enough to protect them. So they had themselves a little revolution.
